The treehopper fauna of páramos has been poorly studied. Here, the new genus Oropedium is described to accommodate the new species Oropedium tatamaense, found in the unexplored páramo of Tatamá at 3750 masl (Cordillera Occidental, Colombia). This taxon could not be classified in any known tribe of the subfamily Membracinae and is placed as incertae sedis. Information on its biology and distribution is discussed. An illustrated key to Membracinae tribes, including Oropedium gen. nov. is proposed.
