Urine citrate analysis is relevant in the screening and monitoring of patients with prostate cancer and calcium nephrolithiasis. A sensitive, fast, easy, and low-maintenance electrochemiluminescence (ECL) method with conductivity detection for the analysis of citrate in urine is developed and validated by employing polymer of intrinsic microporosity-1 nanoparticles/nitrogen-doped carbon quantum dots (nano-PIM-1/N-CQDs). Using optimum conditions, the sensor was applied in ECL experiments in the presence of different concentrations of citrate ions. The ECL signals were quenched gradually by the increasing citrate concentration. The linear range of the relationship between the logarithm of the citrate concentration and ΔECL (ECL of blank - ECL of sample) was obtained between 1.0 × 10 M and 5.0 × 10 M. The limit of detection (LOD) was calculated to be 2.2 × 10 M (S/N = 3). The sensor was successfully applied in real samples such as human serum and patient urine.

Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) has become an indispensable tool for biomolecular analysis, yet the detection of DNA signals remains hindered by spectral interference from citrate ions, which overlap with key DNA features. This study introduces an innovative, ultrasensitive SERS platform utilizing thiol-modified silver nanoparticles (Ag@SDCNPs) that overcomes this challenge by eliminating citrate interference. This platform enables direct, interference-free detection and structural characterization of a wide range of DNA conformations, including single-stranded DNA (ssDNA), double-stranded DNA (dsDNA), i-motif, hairpin, G-quadruplex, and triple-stranded DNA (tsDNA).

Sugarcane tops silage (STS), as a source of roughage for ruminants, is rich in water-soluble carbohydrate (WSC) content, which significantly affects silage quality. Citric acid (CA) is a low-cost natural antimicrobial agent that can inhibit undesirable microbes and improve silage quality. The objectives of this study were to investigate the effects of CA on the chemical composition, fermentation quality, microbial communities, and metabolic pathways of STS with high and low WSC contents before or after aerobic exposure.

Background: Trivalent chromium (Cr(III)) and its highly soluble carboxyl complexes, often discharged into the environment by industries such as electroplating, leather tanning, and textile manufacturing, present severe risks to human health and ecosystems due to their high toxicity. These compounds are notoriously difficult to detect and remove during wastewater treatment, as they can persist in aqueous environments. Consequently, there is a pressing need for the development of simple, cost-effective, and reliable methods for their detection, which can improve monitoring, facilitate timely interventions, and enhance environmental protection efforts.

The hydrothermal synthesis is presented of copper-doped carbon dots (Cu-CDs) from citric acid, urea, and copper chloride, resulting in blue-fluorescent particles with stable emission at 438 nm when excited at 340 nm. Through comprehensive spectroscopic and microscopic characterization (FTIR, XPS, UV, and HRTEM), the Cu-CDs demonstrated remarkable stability across varying pH levels, ionic strengths, temperatures, and UV exposure. Notably, Cu-CDs exhibit ultra-sensitive and selective detection of hexavalent chromium [Cr(VI)] ions in aqueous environments driven by fluorescence quenching.

Objectives: This study evaluates the effect of different irrigation solutions for postoperative pain in the regenerative endodontic treatments (RET) of necrotic teeth with open apex.
Materials And Methods: This study included necrotic, deeply carious lower molars of 42 patients. Access cavities of the teeth were opened and working lengths were measured at the first visit.
