Introduction: A primary objective when performing a total hip arthroplasty (THA) is to restore hip biomechanics in accordance with a chosen surgical plan. The aim of this study was to assess the accuracy of a 3D-printed patient-specific guide for delivering a planned femoral osteotomy for both a posterior and an anterior approach.
Methodology: 40 patients (20 anterior and 20 posterior) scheduled for THA received a preoperative work-up allowing for patient-specific implant sizing and positioning.

: 3D printing technology has gained considerable interest in the domain of orbital illnesses owing to its capacity to transform diagnosis, surgery planning, and treatment. This systematic review seeks to deliver a thorough examination of the contemporary applications of 3D printing in the treatment of ocular problems, encompassing tumors, injuries, and congenital defects. This systematic review of recent studies has examined the application of patient-specific 3D-printed models for preoperative planning, personalized implants, and prosthetics.

Patient-specific flanged acetabular components are utilized to treat failed total hip arthroplasties with severe acetabular defects. We previously developed and published a finite element model that investigated the impact of hip joint center lateralization on construct biomechanics during gait conditions. This model consisted of a patient-specific implant designed to address a superior-medial defect created in a standard pelvic geometry.

Background: Proper positioning of a total hip arthroplasty (THA) plays a crucial role in the success and long-term survivorship of the implant. Cup positioning within the Lewinnek Safe Zone (LSZ) does not, however, avoid implant dislocation. Thus, the concept of a functional cup position has been introduced.

In cases of large mandibular continuity defects resulting from malignancy resection, the current standard of care involves using patient-specific/custom titanium reconstruction plates along with autogenous grafts (fibula, scapula, or iliac crest segments). However, when grafts are not feasible or desired, only the reconstruction plate is used to bridge the gap. Unfortunately, metal osteosynthesis and reconstruction plates, including titanium, exhibit adverse effects such as stress-shielding and limitations in accurate postoperative irradiation (especially with proton-beam therapy).
