8-Phenylmenthol esters of salicylic acid derivatives undergo efficient Birch reduction and diastereoselective alkylations to afford methoxycyclohexadienes bearing new quaternary stereogenic centers. The use of an ester-based auxiliary is a designed improvement over the use of prolinol-derived amides, which are expensive and often very difficult to cleave.

Grouping of chemicals has been proposed as a strategy to speed up the screening and identification of potential substances of concern among the broad chemical universe under REACH. Such grouping is usually based on shared structural features and should only be used for the prioritization objectives. However, additional considerations (as well as structural similarity) are needed, e.

Topical sunscreens decrease the quantity of ultraviolet (UV) light from the sun reaching the skin by either blocking or scattering it and help protect the skin from dyspigmentation, photoaging, DNA damage, and photocarcinogenesis, especially in photosensitive individuals. The significant role played by visible light and infrared light in skin pigmentation and photoaging has been recognized in recent years. The majority of broad-spectrum sunscreens protect against UV-B (290-320nm) and UV-A (320-400nm) radiation.

The aim of this study was to reveal the effects of commercial Lactobacillus plantarum (CL), screened Lactobacillus plantarum (LP), and screened Pediococcus pentosaceus (PP) on quality, microbial community, and VOCs of alfalfa silage based on volatile metabolomics and metagenomics. The results showed that the LP and PP groups had higher sensory and quality grades, and the dominant bacteria were Lactiplantibacillus plantarum and Pediococcus pentosaceus.

Flat black tea (FBT) has been innovatively developed to alleviate homogenisation competition, but the dynamic changes in aroma components during the process remain unclear. This study employed HS-SPME-GC-MS to analyse the aroma components of tea samples from various processing stages of FBT, and to make a comparative assessment with conventional strip-like Congou black tea (SBT). Additionally, a proteomic analysis was conducted on fresh leaves, withered leaves, and frozen-thawed leaves.
