We have collected a novel, nighttime scene dataset, called Rebecca, including 600 real images captured at night with pixel-level semantic annotations, which is currently scarce and can be invoked as a new benchmark. In addition, we proposed a one-step layered network, named LayerNet, to combine local features rich in appearance information in the shallow layer, global features abundant in semantic information in the deep layer, and middle-level features in between by explicitly modeling multistage features of objects in the nighttime. In addition, a multihead decoder and a well-designed hierarchical module are utilized to extract and fuse features of different depths. Numerous experiments show that our dataset can significantly improve the segmentation ability of the existing models for nighttime images. Meanwhile, our LayerNet achieves the state-of-the-art accuracy on Rebecca (65.3% mIOU). The dataset is available at https://github.com/Lihao482/REebecca.

A phage-antibiotic synergy could be an alternative in urinary tract infection (UTI) therapy, as it leads to the elimination of bacteria and to the reduction in variants resistant to phages and antibiotics. The aims of the in vitro study were to determine whether phages vB_Efa29212_2e and vB_Efa29212_3e interact synergistically with selected antibiotics in the treatment of infections, to optimize antibiotic concentrations and phage titers for the most effective combinations, and to assess their impact on the number of spontaneous resistant variants and on the phages' reproductive cycles. The modified double-layer disc diffusion method, checkboard, time-kill assays, one-step growth method and the double agar overlay plaque assay were implemented.

High-performance and cost-effective hole-collecting materials (HCMs) are indispensable for commercially viable perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Here, we report an anchorable HCM composed of a triazatruxene core connected with three alkyl carboxylic acid groups (). In contrast to the phosphonic acid-containing tripodal analog (), molecules can form a hydrophilic monolayer on a transparent conducting oxide surface, which is beneficial for subsequent perovskite film deposition in the traditional layer-by-layer fabrication process.
