The corrosion inhibition effects of five concentrations (5E-5 M to 9E-5 M) of ethyl-(2-(5-arylidine-2,4-dioxothiazolidin-3-yl) acetyl) butanoate, a novel thiazolidinedione derivative code named B1, were investigated on mild steel in 1 M HCl using gravimetric analysis, electrochemical analysis and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. After synthesis and purification, B1 was characterized using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. All gravimetric analysis experiments were carried out at four different temperatures: 303.15 K, 313.15 K, 323.15 K and 333.15 K, achieving a maximum percentage inhibition efficiency of 92% at 303.15 K. The maximum percentage inhibition efficiency obtained from electrochemical analysis, conducted at 303.15 K, was 83%. Thermodynamic parameters such as ΔG° showed that B1 adsorbs onto the MS surface via a mixed type of action at lower temperatures, transitioning to exclusively chemisorption at higher temperatures.

Since decades after temozolomide was approved, no effective drugs have been developed. Undoubtedly, blood-brain barrier (BBB) penetration is a severe issue that should be overcome in glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) drug development. In this research, we were inspired by linezolid through structural modification with several bioactive moieties to achieve the desired brain delivery.

Gastric cancer is a common digestive system tumor with a high resistance rate that reduces the sensitivity to chemotherapy. Nutrition therapy is an important adjuvant approach to favor the prognosis of gastric cancer. Dietary amino acids contribute greatly to gastric cancer progression by mediating tumor gene expressions, epigenetics, signal transduction, and metabolic remodeling.

Hearing loss (HL) is an otolaryngology disease susceptible to environmental pollutants. Volatile organic compounds (VOCs), as a class of chemical pollutants with evaporation propensity, pose a great threat to human health. However, the association between VOCs and HL remains unclear.

Memory formation is associated with constant modifications of neuronal networks and synaptic plasticity gene expression in response to different environmental stimuli and experiences. Dysregulation of synaptic plasticity gene expression affects memory during aging and neurodegenerative diseases. Covalent modifications such as methylation on DNA and acetylation on histones regulate the transcription of synaptic plasticity genes.

The challenges of pollution and agro-industrial waste management have led to the development of bioconversion techniques to transform these wastes into valuable products. This has increased the focus on the sustainable and cost-efficient production of biosurfactants from agro-industrial waste. Hence, the present study investigates the production of sophorolipid biosurfactants using the yeast strain IIPL32 under submerged fermentation, employing sugarcane bagasse hydrolysate-a renewable, low-cost agro-industrial waste as the feedstock.
