Atmospheric water harvesting (AWH) has been recognized as a next-generation technology to alleviate water shortages in arid areas. However, the current AWH materials suffer from insufficient water adsorption capacity and high-water retention, which hinder the practical application of AWH materials. In this study, we developed a novel dual-layered hydrogel (DLH) composed of a light-to-heat conversion layer (LHL) containing novel polydopamine-manganese nanoparticles (PDA-Mn NPs) and a water adsorption layer (WAL) made of 2-(acryloyloxyethyl) trimethylammonium chloride (AEtMA). The WAL has a strong ability to adsorb water molecules in the air and has a high-water storage capacity, and the PDA-Mn NPs embedded in the LHL have excellent photothermal conversion efficiency, leading to light-induced autonomous water release. As a result, the DLH displays a high-water adsorption capacity of 7.73 g g under optimal conditions and could near-quantitatively release captured water within 4 h sunlight exposure. Coupled with its low cost, we believed that the DLH will be one of the promising AWH materials for practical applications.

Our study addresses the pressing global freshwater scarcity crisis by engineering advanced liquid-entrapped nanosurfaces optimized for highly efficient atmospheric water harvesting (AWH). Through a synergistic approach integrating carbon fiber paper (CFP), hydrothermally synthesized nanoneedles (NNs), and silicone oil liquid entrapment (LE) within NNs, we achieved remarkable improvements in water collection efficiency. While CFP captures fog effectively during AWH, it faces challenges with water-pinning effects, mitigated by NNs' improved droplet-spreading properties, leading to a notable 50% increase in harvesting efficiency.

Study Question: How does pre-diagnosis use of hospital care differentiate between women later diagnosed with endometriosis and age-matched controls without a diagnosis?

Summary Answer: Women with hospital-diagnosed endometriosis had more frequent hospital contacts in the 10 years leading up to the diagnosis compared to women without a diagnosis of endometriosis, and the contacts were related to registered diagnoses in nearly all of the included ICD-10 chapters for the entire period.

What Is Known Already: Only a few studies have investigated the utilization of health care among women with endometriosis in the time before diagnosis, but current research shows that women with endometriosis have a higher utilization compared to women without diagnosed endometriosis. To our knowledge, no study has investigated the type of contact related to the higher utilization by using the ICD-10 diagnoses registered to the hospital contact.

Hygroscopic materials based on highly hygroscopic salts are promising for atmospheric water harvesting (AWH), but the metal- or halide-containing highly hygroscopic salts often have leakage and corrosion issues. Here, the design and synthesis of metal- and halide-free, highly hygroscopic, and macroporous polymers from [2-(acryloyloxy)ethyl]trimethylammonium chloride simply via in situ foaming, solidification, and ion exchange are reported. The resulting polymers exhibit highly interconnected macroporous structure, robust compression, and leakage-free performance, and they also demonstrate relatively high moisture adsorption capacities (up to 1.

Introduction: In recent years, research on the effect of blood group on hearing function has gained more attention. Some blood groups show susceptibility to certain general health and auditory disorders like noise induced hearing loss, infections, coronary artery disease, gastric carcinoma and duodenal ulcer.

Aims: The present study aimed to determine the differences in middle ear and cochlear function among persons with different blood groups (AB, A, B, O).
