Purpose: Cochlear implants (CI) are the most successful bioprosthesis in medicine probably due to the tonotopic anatomy of the auditory pathway and of course the brain plasticity. Correct placement of the CI arrays, respecting the inner ear anatomy are therefore important. The ideal trajectory to insert a cochlear implant array is defined by an entrance through the round window membrane and continues as long as possible parallel to the basal turn of the cochlea.

Collaborative motor interactions (joint actions) require relating to another person (social dimension) whose contribution is needed to achieve a shared goal (goal-related dimension). We explored if and how these dimensions modulate interactive behavior by exploring posterror interpersonal adaptations. In two experiments carried out in 2022 (₁ = 23; ₂ = 24, preregistered), participants played sequences of notes in turn-taking with a coactor either described as another participant or the computer (human vs.

Joint action partners modulate the first step of an action sequence to communicate a distal goal.

Acta Psychol (Amst)

January 2025

Department of Linguistics, Cognitive Science, and Semiotics, Aarhus University, Jens Chr. Skous Vej 2, 1485-638 Aarhus, Denmark; Interacting Minds Centre, Aarhus University, Jens Chr. Skous Vej 2, 1485-638 Aarhus, Denmark. Electronic address:

When two co-actors perform a joint action, they often communicatively modulate their instrumental actions so as to facilitate each other's predictions of their immediate, proximal goals. Here, we ask whether co-actors would also engage in such "sensorimotor communication" for distal goals, specifically those that result from a two-step action sequence. To address this question, we asked pairs of participants to work together to deliver an animated box to one of two delivery locations displayed on a computer screen.

Identification and correction of phase delay errors for hemispherical resonator gyroscopes.

Sci Rep

January 2025

Space Control and Inertial Technology Research Center, Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin, 150080, Heilongjiang, China.

The phase-delay error of the circuit system is the primary source of the output error observed in the hemispherical resonator gyroscope (HRG). Additionally, the temperature-dependent nature of the phase-delay error results in a deterioration of the initial calibration parameters, which, in turn, significantly impairs the performance of the gyroscope in its intended application. This paper proposes a self-calibration method to effectively suppress the impact of phase-delay error on the application performance of gyroscopes.

Accurate 3D characterization of osteocyte lacunae is important when investigating the role of osteocytes under various physiological and pathological conditions but remains a challenge. With the continued development of laboratory X-ray micro-computed tomography, an increasing number of studies employ these techniques beyond traditional bone morphometry to quantify osteocyte lacunae. However, there is a lack of knowledge on the effect of measurement parameters on the image quality and resolution and in turn the osteocyte lacunar quantification.
