Aging women in Russia: Between sexless and sexy oldies.

J Women Aging

January 2025

Department of Sociology, European University at St. Petersburg, St Petersburg, Russia.

Women's sexuality as a dimension of embodied identity is shaped and constrained by social norms of gender and age and negotiated by women in complex ways. Discourses of hegemonic bodily normativity ascribe a sexless subjectivity to Russian women in their post-reproductive years, contributing to their social exclusion. At the same time, in modern Russian society a neoliberal concept of "successful active aging" is gradually changing understandings of aging, making later-life sexuality more visible and legitimate.

Kisspeptin control of hypothalamus-pituitary-ovarian functions.

Vitam Horm

January 2025

Department of Zoology, Institute of Science, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, Uttar pradesh, India.

The discovery of Kisspeptin (Kiss) has opened a new direction in research on neuroendocrine control of reproduction in vertebrates. Belonging to the RF amide family of peptides, Kiss and its cognate receptor Gpr54 (Kissr) have a long and complex evolutionary history. Multiple forms of Kiss and Kissr are identified in non-mammalian vertebrates, with the exception of birds, and monotreme mammals.

This study introduces EpiAgePublic, a new method to estimate biological age using only three specific sites on the gene known for its connection to aging. Unlike traditional methods that require complex and extensive data, our model uses a simpler approach that is well-suited for next-generation sequencing technology, which is a more advanced method of analyzing DNA methylation. This new model overcomes some of the common challenges found in older methods, such as errors due to sample quality and processing variations.

A substantial number of patients with Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD) undergo a nephrectomy, especially in work-up for a kidney transplantation. Currently, there is no evidence-based algorithm to guide clinicians which patients should undergo nephrectomy, the optimal timing of this procedure, or the preferred surgical technique. This systematic review-based consensus statement aimed to answer important questions regarding nephrectomy in ADPKD.

Statement Of Problem: Staining at the gingival margin could impact denture longevity, but the behavior of gingival colored composite resins (GCCs) in this area remains unclear.

Purpose: This in vitro study evaluated surface staining, microleakage, and push-out bond strength at the gingival margin of artificial teeth, comparing two consistencies of GCCs with two resin base materials.

Material And Methods: Specimens included artificial teeth (Ivostar; Ivoclar AG) and two acrylic resin base materials: conventional (Ondacryl; Clássico) and high-impact (Diamond D; Keystone Industries) (n=300).
