Background: Renal clear cell carcinoma (RCC) is a malignant tumor of the genitourinary system with a predilection for males. The most common metastatic sites are the lung, liver, lymph nodes, contralateral kidney or adrenal gland, however, skin metastasis has only been seen in 1.0%-3.3% of cases. The most common site of skin metastasis is the scalp, and metastasis to the nasal ala region is rare.

Case Summary: A 55-year-old man with clear cell carcinoma of the left kidney was treated with pembrolizumab and axitinib for half a year after surgery and was found to have a red mass on his right nasal ala for 3 mo. The skin lesion of the patient grew rapidly to the size of 2.0 cm × 2.0 cm × 1.2 cm after discontinuation of targeted drug therapy due to the coronavirus disease 2019 epidemic. The patient was finally diagnosed with skin metastasis of RCC in our hospital. The patient refused to undergo surgical resection and the tumor shrank rapidly after resuming target therapy for 2 wk.

Conclusion: It is rare for an RCC to metastasize to the skin of the nasal ala region. The tumor size change of this patient before and after treatment with targeted drugs shows the effectiveness of combination therapy for skin metastasis.

Chronic inflammation in the tumour microenvironment (TME) via Th2-polarisation promotes melanoma progression and metastasis, making it a target for immunotherapy. Interleukin (IL)-4 is considered essential for Th2-polarisation in the TME; however, its source remains unknown. Basophils have been postulated as one of its sources.

Introduction: Large melanomas, while relatively uncommon, present significant diagnostic challenges due to their size and potential to mimic other malignancies, leading to delays in appropriate treatment. Initial misdiagnosis is a substantial concern, impacting patient outcomes. This case highlights the importance of immunohistochemistry in cancer diagnosis, and of appropriate therapeutic management, which here included excision surgery of the tumor mass.

Introduction: Patients with metastatic melanoma to the lung typically have poor outcomes. Although a pulmonary metastasectomy for selected patients has been shown to improve survival, the role of surgical resection following the introduction of immunotherapy for metastatic melanoma is unknown. The objective of this study was to determine predictors of survival for patients with melanoma metastatic to the lung in the era of immunotherapy.

Vulvar keratoacanthoma may be a malignant precursor: A case report and literature review.

People's Hospital of China Medical University, Department of Gynecology, People's Hospital of Liaoning Province, Shenyang, China.

Background: Keratoacanthoma is a relatively rare skin tumor, with vulvar keratoacanthoma being even more uncommon. Although the majority of keratoacanthomas exhibit a benign course, a subset of cases may show features of malignant potential, such as marginal invasion and recurrence.

Case: An 82-year-old female presented with a rapidly growing exophytic lesion on the left vulva, measuring 1.

Microneedle patch-involved local therapy synergized with immune checkpoint inhibitor for pre- and post-operative cancer treatment.

The metastasis and recurrence of cancer post-surgery remain the major reasons for treatment failures. Herein, a photo-immune nanoparticle decorating with M1 macrophage membrane (BD@LM) is designed based on the inflammatory environment after surgical resection. By loading photosensitizer black phosphorus quantum dots (BPQDs) and chemotherapeutics doxorubicin (DOX) in BD@LM nanoparticles, an effective chemophototherapy-mediated immunogenic cell death of tumor cells is triggered, subsequently leading to the maturation of dendritic cells for further immune cascade.
