Background: Increasing evidence suggests that SARS-CoV-2 infection may lead to early onset and aggravation of pre-existing vascular dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Methylene tetrahydrofolate reductase (Mthfr) is a critical enzyme in folate metabolism, also required for optimal brain function. Mthfr deficient mice display cognitive impairments and neurovascular deficits and polymorphisms in MTHFR increases dementia risk.

Effective dietary strategies and interventions for monitoring dietary exposures require accurate and noninvasive methods to understand how diet modulates health and risk of obesity; advances in technology are transforming the landscape and enabling more specific tailored approaches to nutritional guidance. This study explores the use of Raman spectroscopy (RS), a noninvasive and nondestructive analytical technique, to identify changes in the mice skin in response to constant dietary exposures. We found that RS is highly accurate to determine body composition as a result of habitual dietary patterns, specifically Vegan, Typical American, and Ketogenic diets, all very common in the US context.

The tumorigenesis of colorectal cancer (CRC) often follows the normal-adenoma-carcinoma (N-A-C) sequence. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying colorectal adenoma carcinogenesis remain largely unknown. Here, we analyzed transcriptomic profile changes in normal, advanced adenoma, and carcinoma tissues from patients with CRC, revealing that glutamic-pyruvic transaminase 1 () in colorectal tissues was down-regulated during the N-A-C process and correlated with poor CRC prognosis.

This review provides an analysis of the current literature on the health and nutrition of blood donors, examining key aspects that affect the quality of donated blood and the well-being of donors. The review discusses effective iron absorption facilitated by key nutrients and presents evidence on the importance of a balanced diet rich in essential nutrients, such as vitamin B12 and folic acid. The review examines the differences in iron levels between men and women and highlights the role of sex hormones in regulating iron metabolism.

Purpose: Undernutrition in children is a critical worldwide concern that hampers both their physical and cognitive growth. The nutritional status of school-going children and adolescents remains insufficiently addressed with no comprehensive data. This is the first study from the Himalayan foothills that aims to assess the clinical and laboratory aspects of anemia with micronutrient status in undernourished children above the age of five along with association of clinical features with anemia severity.
