The dehydration behavior of pharmaceutical hydrates has a great influence on its physiochemical properties such as stability, dissolution rate and bioavailability. However, how the intermolecular interactions vary during dehydration process remains elusive. In this work, we employed terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) to probe the low-frequency vibrations and the dehydration process of isonicotinamide hydrate I (INA-H I). Theoretical solid-state DFT calculation was conducted to reveal its mechanism. Vibrational modes which are responsible for the THz absorption peaks were decomposed for better understanding the characters of these low-frequency modes. The result suggests translational motion is the dominant component for water molecules in THz region. Evolution of the THz spectrum of INA-H I during dehydration provides direct evidence of the variations of crystal structure. Based on the THz measurements, a two-step kinetics mode including first-rate reaction and three-dimensional nuclei growth is proposed. And we figure that the low-frequency vibrations of water molecules are the origin of dehydration process of hydrate.

Background: The C-repeat binding factor (CBF)/dehydration-responsive element binding (DREB1) belongs to a subfamily of the AP2/ERF (APETALA2/ethylene-responsive factor) superfamily, which can regulate many physiological and biochemical processes in plants, such as plant growth and development, hormone signal transduction and response to abiotic stress. Although the CBF/DREB1 family has been identified in many plants, studies of the CBF/DREB1 family in alfalfa are insufficient.
Results: In this study, 25 MsCBF genes were identified in the genome of alfalfa ("Zhongmu No.

The precise and rapid extraction of lithium from salt-lake brines is critical to meeting the global demand for lithium resources. However, it remains a major challenge to design ion-transport membranes with accurate recognition and fast transport path for the target ion. Here, we report a triazine covalent organic framework (COF) membrane with high resolution for Li+ and Mg2+ that enables fast Li+ transport while almost completely inhibiting Mg2+ permeation.

Background: Excessive alcohol consumption poses a significant threat to human health, leading to cellular dehydration, degeneration, and necrosis. Alcohol-induced cellular damage is closely linked to alterations in cellular mechanical properties. However, characterizing these changes following alcohol-related injury remains challenging.

β-Cyclodextrin (β-CD) enhances functional properties by forming inclusion complexes (ICs). This study employed β-CD to form IC with fatty acid ethyl ester (FAEE) for concentrating α-Linolenic acid ethyl ester (ALAEE) from flaxseed oil FAEE, and investigated the interaction mechanisms between β-CD and ALAEE. Using the single-factor method, optimal inclusion conditions yielded an inclusion rate of 61.
