In the study, monodispersed silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) with an average diameter of 9.57 nm were efficiently and controllably biosynthesized by a reductase from DO7 only in the presence of β-NADPH and polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP). The reductase responsible for AgNP formation in DO7 was further confirmed as 1,4-α-glucosidase. Meanwhile, based on the debate on the antibacterial mechanism of AgNPs, this study elucidated in further depth that antibacterial action of AgNPs was achieved by absorbing to the cell membrane and destabilizing the membrane, leading to cell death. Moreover, AgNPs could accelerate the catalytic reaction of 4-nitroaniline, and 86.9% of 4-nitroaniline was converted to p-phenylene diamine in only 20 min by AgNPs of controllable size and morphology. Our study highlights a simple, green, and cost-effective process for biosynthesizing AgNPs with uniform sizes and excellent antibacterial activity and catalytic reduction of 4-nitroaniline.

The unreasonable use of organic dye leads to excessive residues in environmental water, which seriously threatens human health and the natural environment. In this paper, a spherical flower-like magnetic FeO@CoNi layered double hydroxide@silver nanoparticle (FeO@CoNi LDH@Ag NPs) SERS substrate was successfully fabricated electrostatic self-assembly and applied for the sensitive detection of methylene blue (MB) in environmental water. The rapid concentration and separation of the SERS substrate from the water sample could be achieved using an external magnet.

To address the rising prevalence of bacterial infections and the need for innovative therapeutic solutions, this study has developed a novel antibacterial hydrogel composite composed of Aloe vera, gelatin, sodium alginate, and Sterculia monosperma-silver nanoparticles (SM-AgNPs) loaded curcumin-nanoliposomes (NLPs). The aloe vera/gelatin/sodium alginate hydrogels (AGS) are prepared using different weight ratios of Aloe vera, gelatin, and sodium alginate, aiming to optimize mechanical properties and biocompatibility for biomedical applications. The incorporation of SM-AgNPs and curcumin-loaded NLPs enhanced the hydrogels' antibacterial properties.

Green synthesis of nanoparticles (NPs) is preferred for its affordability and environmentally friendly approach. This study explored the synthesis and characterization of silver NPs (AgNPs) and examined their impact on the growth of Zea mays, both alone and in combination with nickel chloride (NiCl). A methanolic leaf extract was combined with silver nitrate to synthesize AgNPs.

Two-dimensional (2D) hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) has garnered significant attention due to its exceptional thermal and chemical stability, excellent dielectric properties, and unique optical characteristics, making it widely used in deep ultraviolet (DUV) applications. However, the integration of hBN with plasmonic materials in the visible region (532 nm) has not been fully explored, particularly in terms of morphology regulation and size control of mono- and bimetallic nanoparticles (BMNPs) namely gold (Au), silver (Ag) and Au-Ag. A Schottky junction-based metal-semiconductor contact configuration is employed to achieve hot-carrier reflections on the metal side, enhancing the quantum efficiency of the photodetector.
