A morphology-based phylogeny of the Holarctic leafhopper genus Hamilton is reconstructed for the first time based on 39 discrete male adult morphological characters. The results support the monophyly of , with the included species forming two monophyletic lineages defined mainly by the number and location of aedeagus processes. The position of in the Aphrodini was resolved as follows: ( + ( + ( + ))). The fauna of from China, Japan and Korea are reviewed and six species are recognized, including two new species: (Linnaeus), (Signoret), (Matsumura), (Rey), sp. nov. (China: Sichuan) and sp. nov. (China: Hubei). Kato, 1933 syn. nov. and Kuoh, 1981 syn. nov. are considered junior synonyms of (Signoret, 1879). Choe, 1981 is a junior synonym of (Matsumura, 1912). A checklist and key to species of are provided.

Questions about when early members of the genus adapted to extreme environments like deserts and rainforests have traditionally focused on . Here, we present multidisciplinary evidence from Engaji Nanyori in Tanzania's Oldupai Gorge, revealing that thrived in hyperarid landscapes one million years ago. Using biogeochemical analyses, precise chronometric dating, palaeoclimate simulations, biome modeling, fire history reconstructions, palaeobotanical studies, faunal assemblages, and archeological evidence, we reconstruct an environment dominated by semidesert shrubland.

Background: The ongoing emergence and spread of drug-resistant pathogens necessitate urgent solutions. Natural products from bacterial sources are recognized as a promising source of antibiotics. This study aimed to isolate and characterize soil microorganisms from extremely hot environments and to screen their secondary metabolites for antibacterial activity.

Background And Aims: Genomic changes triggered by polyploidy, chromosomal rearrangements, and/ or environmental stress are among factors that affect the activity of mobile elements, particularly Long Terminal Repeats Retrotransposons (LTR-RTs) and DNA transposons. Because these elements can proliferate and move throughout host genomes, altering the genetic, epigenetic and nucleotypic landscape, they have been recognized as a relevant evolutionary force. Beaksedges (Rhynchospora) stand out for their wide cosmopolitan distribution, high diversity (~400 spp.
