Background: Plasma biomarkers of Alzheimer's disease were examined in the Health & Aging Brain Study - Health Disparities (HABS-HD). Data from n>3,000 participants (n>1,000 African American, n>1,000 Hispanic, n>1,000 non-Hispanic white) were examined in relation to cognitive diagnoses, functional outcomes and imaging (MRI, PET amyloid and PET tau) outcomes.

Method: Plasma biomarkers were examined via single molecule assays using the Simoa technology.

Background: Patients with rapid progressive Alzheimer disease and related dementias (rpAD/ADRD) develop dementia within 1 year or incapacitation within 2 years of symptom onset. We previously showed that selected CSF biomarkers of neuronal injury (NfL, VILIP-1), AD neuropathology (p-tau181), and neuroinflammation (GFAP, MCP-1, sTREM2) measured at presentation associated with etiologic diagnoses and reliably differentiated patients with treatment-responsive causes of rapid progressive dementia. However, no differences were identified between CSF biomarkers in patients with rapid and typical progressive forms of AD/ADRD, leaving key questions unanswered concerning the mechanisms that drive rpAD/ADRD.

Drug-induced liver injury (DILI) is a crucial factor that poses a significant threat to human health. DILI process leads to the changes of reactive oxygen species and reactive nitrogen species content in cells, which leads to oxidative and nitrosative stress in cells. However, the high reactivity of hypochlorous acid (HOCl) and peroxynitrite (ONOO⁻), combined with a lack of in situ imaging techniques, has hindered a detailed understanding of their roles in DILI.

We tuned the morphology from the needle-like Co(CO)(OH)·0.11HO to the unique Turing-structured CoCO through controlling the amount of glycerol in the solvothermal system, and then synthesized the Turing structure consisting of N-50 %-CoO hollow nanoparticles though the Kirkendall effect during nitriding process, which was applied as a novel bifunctional self-supporting electrode for efficient electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and electrocatalytic NO oxidation reaction (eNOOR). The eNOOR can be not only used as a substitution anode reaction of oxygen evolution reaction (OER) to couple with HER for efficient water splitting, but the production of nitrate from eNOOR also provides a strategy for the development of Zn-nitrate battery.
