Background: Serum neurofilament light chain (sNFL) is a promising biomarker for neuroaxonal injury in multiple sclerosis (MS). Traditional clinical and radiological examinations often fail to capture the underlying neurodegeneration, particularly in the absence of clinical relapses or gadolinium-enhanced lesions. This study aims to assess sNFL levels in real-world MS patients who have no evidence of activity, to evaluate the potential of sNFL as a biomarker for smoldering-associated worsening (SAW).

Purpose Of Review: Heart failure is a complex and heterogenous disease state that affects millions worldwide. Over recent decades, advancements in medical therapy and device implementation have significantly transformed the landscape of heart failure outcomes, while improvements in imaging modalities and greater accessibility to genome sequencing have led to increasing recognition of distinct heart failure endotypes. There is rising evidence to suggest all patients do not benefit equally from intensification of guideline directed medical therapy (GDMT).

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), Human T Lymphotropic Virus (HTLV), Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) and Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) coinfection may lead to disease progression or worsen its clinical presentation. Viral coinfections screening during blood donation is critical. To identify risk factors for coinfection among blood donors, we assessed the blood donations at the Fundação de Hematologia e Hemoterapia da Bahia, from 2008 to 2017.

This letter discusses the research conducted by Abdel-Razeq , highlighting a significant association between () infection and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) in individuals with a prior history of infection. Using a comprehensive patient database, the study establishes an independent correlation between and an elevated risk of MASH, even after adjusting for coexisting conditions such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, and dyslipidemia. Notably, the findings suggest that may worsen liver pathology through inflammatory pathways, contributing to hepatic insulin resistance and lipid accumulation.
