Background: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) often presents with neuropsychiatric (NP) involvement, including cognitive impairment and depression. Past magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) research in SLE patients showed smaller hippocampal volumes but did not investigate other medial temporal lobe (MTL) regions. Our study aims to compare MTL subregional volumes in SLE patients to healthy individuals (HI) and explore MTL subregional volumes in relation to neuropsychiatric SLE (NPSLE) manifestations.

Involvement of the central and peripheral nervous system is not uncommon in these conditions and is associated with high morbidity and mortality. Therefore, early recognition of the neuropsychiatric manifestations associated with rheumatologic diseases is essential for the introduction of appropriate therapies with the objective of providing a better quality of life for individuals.

We provide an overview of recent advances in the diagnosis and classification of intestinal T- and NK-cell lymphomas and lymphoproliferative disorders that primarily involve the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. It should be mentioned that systemic T- and NK-cell lymphomas can present initially in the GI tract but are not the focus of this review. Here, we focus on the clinical and pathologic findings of enteropathy-associated T-cell lymphoma, monomorphic epitheliotropic intestinal T-cell lymphoma, intestinal T-cell lymphoma not otherwise specified, indolent T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder of the GI tract and indolent NK-cell lymphoproliferative disorder of the GI tract (previously known as NK-cell enteropathy).
