Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the leading cause of death worldwide, accounting for one-third of global mortality. Prediabetes increases the risk of CVDs as well as several other conditions, yet people with prediabetes may not seek intervention, thinking that they do not have diabetes, as the risk of progression may have not been emphasised by the healthcare professional. Accumulating evidence indicates that hyperglycaemia represents a continuum of CVD risk and dichotomising the risk into type 2 diabetes and prediabetes may deter early clinical intervention. It is proffered that the term 'prediabetes' is a misnomer that may disguise a serious condition, fostering complacency and undermining its prognostic significance.

Objective: Inflammation seems to be crucial in the pathogenesis of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA). Previous research links inflammatory biomarkers, such as high sensitivity C-reactive protein (HS-CRP), to AAA. Few studies, however, have used a prospective design.

Objectives: Knowledge of the trajectory of post-stroke depression is important to identify high-risk patients, develop precise management programs and enhance prognosis. We aimed to characterise the course of depressive symptoms within the first year post-stroke and to evaluate associations with time.
Materials And Methods: Depressive symptoms were measured using the Montgomery-Åsberg Depression Rating Scale (MADRS) within the first week, and at 3- and 12-months post-stroke.

Objectives: To identify different clusters of health-related behaviours and examine whether these clusters are associated with maintaining 20 or more teeth.
Background: Engaging in risky behaviours impacts tooth loss, particularly among older adults. Maintaining 20 teeth is a challenge for this age group.

Paratuberculosis (Johne's disease), caused by Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (MAP), is a common, economically-important and potentially zoonotic contagious disease of cattle, with worldwide distribution. Disease management relies on identification of animals which are at high-risk of being infected or infectious.

Aim: To investigate the risk factors associated with frailty in older patients with ischaemic stroke, develop a nomogram and apply it clinically.
Design: A cross-sectional study.
Methods: Altogether, 567 patients who experienced ischaemic strokes between March and December 2023 were temporally divided into training (n = 452) and validation (n = 115) sets and dichotomised into frail and non-frail groups using the Tilburg Frailty Indicator scale.
