This study aims to investigate the association between the natural level of blood biomarkers and electroencephalographic (EEG) markers. Resting EEG theta, alpha (ABP), beta, and gamma frequency band powers were selected as linear EEG markers indicating the level of EEG power, and Higuchi's fractal dimension (HFD) as a nonlinear EEG complexity marker reflecting brain temporal dynamics. The impact of seven different blood biomarkers, i.

This study examined behavioral, electrophysiological (EEG), and autonomic responses to stress during the preparation and speech stages of five discourses among 26 adults. Participants underwent an increasingly stressful job-interview based on a modified Trier Social Stress Test, receiving feedback from an evaluative board. Findings showed increased RTs, higher cardiovascular responses [Pulse Volume Amplitude (PVA), and Heart Rate Variability (HRV)] and generalized increases in EEG frequency bands (delta, theta, alpha, beta, gamma) during the speech compared to the preparation stage.

EEG is an integral part of the diagnostic workup with typical periodic sharp-wave complexes indicative of CJD, but early in the disease EEG is often unaltered. Accordingly, we aimed at evaluating disruption of brain network functional connectivity (FC) in regions belonging to the default mode network (DMN) as a potential early marker in CJD when EEG is considered visually normal.

Objective: To apply machine learning approaches on EEG event-related oscillations (ERO) to discriminate preclinical Alzheimer's disease (AD) from age- and sex-matched controls.
Methods: Twenty-two cognitively normal preclinical AD participants with elevated amyloid and 21 cognitively normal controls without elevated amyloid completed n-back working memory tasks (n = 0, 1, 2). The absolute and relative power of ERO was extracted using the discrete wavelet transform in the delta, theta, alpha, and beta bands.

Background: Recent advancements in virtual reality (VR) and biofeedback (BF) technologies have opened new avenues for breathing training. Breathing training has been suggested as an effective means for mental disorders, but it is difficult to master the technique at the beginning. VR-BF technologies address the problem of breathing, and visualizing breathing may facilitate the learning of breathing training.
