Neonatal diabetes mellitus (NDM) is a rare type of monogenic diabetes. At present, most published studies have focused on the types of gene mutations associated with NDM and the therapeutic effect of sulfonylureas (SUs) on the disease; few studies on NDM-associated intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) exist. In addition, p.V59M mutations generally lead to intermediate DEND (iDEND: intermediate developmental delay and neonatal diabetes) syndrome without epilepsy. Here, we present a case of a 1-month-old male infant who was diagnosed with NDM caused by a missense mutation (p.V59M), presenting with cerebral injury. In the early stage of the disease, continuous insulin dose adjustment did not achieve an ideal level of blood glucose. Although blood glucose was subsequently controlled by oral SUs, which were administered after the genetic test result, the patient still displayed epilepsy and developmental delay. In this case report, we present our experience in the treatment of the infant, switching from insulin to oral SUs and we thought that SUs have limited effects on improving the prognosis of neurodevelopmental disturbances in NDM with foci of encephalomalacia. In addition, there may be a relationship between missense mutations and cerebral injury, and further research must be carried out to confirm these points.

Introduction: Pregnancy induces a hypercoagulable state, characterized by increased coagulation factors and decreased anticoagulants, alongside ongoing fibrinolysis marked by elevated D-dimer (DD) levels. Reference values for DD in pregnancy often exceed the non-pregnant cutoff due to these changes. Elevated DD levels are common in late pregnancy and may correlate with complications such as gestational diabetes, hypertension, and preterm delivery, particularly in cases of preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM).

Background: Since the implementation of China's comprehensive two-child policy, the prevalence of long interpregnancy intervals (IPI) and advanced maternal age has increased. However, previous studies in China have mostly focused on the relationship between short IPIs and adverse perinatal outcomes, while neglecting maternal age as a potential confounder.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort study of 23,899 pregnant women who delivered between January 1, 2017 and December 31, 2019 at Chengdu Women's and Children's Central Hospital and West China Second Hospital of Sichuan University.

Obesity is a global health crisis linked to numerous adverse outcomes including cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, cancer and cognitive decline. This study investigated the sex-specific effects of monosodium glutamate (MSG)-induced obesity on learning, memory, anxiety-like behavior, oxidative stress, and genotoxicity in rats. In 32 neonatal Wistar albino rats, subcutaneous MSG injections were administered to induce obesity.

Background: Deaths in Australia and other high-income countries increasingly involve multiple conditions. However, key burden of disease measures typically only use the underlying cause of death (UC). We quantified sex and cause-specific years of life lost (YLL) based on UC compared with a method integrating multiple causes of death.

Background & Objective: The specific influence of the pre-pregnancy body mass index (PPBMI) on women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is unclear. Our objective was to investigate how PPBMI categories affect pregnancy and neonatal outcomes in women with GDM.
Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted using data from patients attending the Fujian Maternity and Child Health Hospital (Fuzhou, China) from 2021 to 2023.
