Defective and perfect sites naturally exist within electronic semiconductors, and considerable efforts to reduce defects to improve the performance of electronic devices, especially in hybrid organic-inorganic perovskites (ABX ), are undertaken. Herein, foldable hole-transporting materials (HTMs) are developed, and they extend the wavefunctions of A-site cations of perovskite, which, as hybridized electronic states, link the trap states (defective site) and valence band edge (perfect site) between the naturally defective and perfect sites of the perovskite surface, finally converting the discrete trap states of the perovskite as the continuous valence band to reduce trap recombination. Tailoring the foldability of the HTMs tunes the wavefunctions between defective and perfect surface sites, allowing the power conversion efficiency of a small cell to reach 23.22% and that of a mini-module (6.5 × 7 cm, active area = 30.24 cm ) to reach as high as 21.71% with a fill factor of 81%, the highest value reported for non-spiro-OMeTAD-based perovskite solar modules.

Multilayer Graphene Stacked with Silver Nanowire Networks for Transparent Conductor.

Materials (Basel)

January 2025

Department of Physics, Changwon National University, Changwon 51140, Republic of Korea.

A mechanically robust flexible transparent conductor with high thermal and chemical stability was fabricated from welded silver nanowire networks (w-Ag-NWs) sandwiched between multilayer graphene (MLG) and polyimide (PI) films. By modifying the gas flow dynamics and surface chemistry of the Cu surface during graphene growth, a highly crystalline and uniform MLG film was obtained on the Cu foil, which was then directly coated on the Ag-NW networks to serve as a barrier material. It was found that the highly crystalline layers in the MLG film compensate for structural defects, thus forming a perfect barrier film to shield Ag NWs from oxidation and sulfurization.

Charge Transfer Effect in Layered Cathodes Through MEMS-Based In Situ TEM Studies.

State Key Laboratory of Advanced Technology for Materials Synthesis and Processing WUT Nano Key Lab, Wuhan, Hubei, 430070, China.

The irreversible lattice oxygen release is the primary issue in layered oxide cathodes which is generally attributed to a consecutive phase transition with less lattice oxygen content. Herein, an anomalous metal segregation pathway is observed in oxygen vacancy defective layered cathodes, which happens far before the onset of phase transitions. The correlation of electron energy loss spectroscopy indicates that an early charge transfer from oxygen 2p to Mn 3d orbital is responsible.

Spinocerebellar Ataxia Type 8 (SCA8) is an inherited neurodegenerative disease caused by a bidirectionally expressed CTG●CAG expansion mutation in the ATXN-8 and ATXN8-OS genes. While SCA8 patients have motor abnormalities, patients may also exhibit psychiatric symptoms and cognitive dysfunction. It is difficult to elucidate how the disease alters brain function in areas with little or no degeneration producing both motor and cognitive symptoms.

Cancer and its diverse variations pose one of the most significant threats to human health and well-being. One of the most aggressive forms is blood cancer, originating from bone marrow cells and disrupting the production of normal blood cells. The incidence of blood cancer is steadily increasing, driven by both genetic and environmental factors.

Objectives: To assess the validity of light-induced and laser-induced fluorescence devices compared to the visual-tactile method for detecting secondary caries around resin composite restorations.

Materials And Methods: The study included 20 participants with 30 resin-composite restored teeth. Restorations' margins were examined using three diagnostic methods: the visual-tactile method (FDI criteria), the light-induced fluorescence camera (VistaCam iX), and the laser-induced fluorescence device (DIAGNOdent pen), and the reference was visual inspection after removal of defective restorations.
