The occurrence of external L-glutamate at the Arabidopsis root tip triggers major changes in root architecture, but the mechanism of -L-Glu sensing is unknown. Members of the family of GLUTAMATE RECEPTOR-LIKE (GLR) proteins are known to act as amino acid-gated Ca-permeable channels and to have signalling roles in diverse plant processes. To investigate the possible role of GLRs in the root architectural response to L-Glu, we screened a collection of mutants with T-DNA insertions in each of the 20 AtGLR genes.

Although it is unusual, syphilis can impact the liver, manifesting as syphilitic hepatitis with inflammatory nodules, which might be misdiagnosed as metastasis.
Case Summary: This case report involves a 46-year-old female who developed right upper abdominal pain and intermittent low fever that persisted for more than three months.

Acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP) is a rare drug eruption characterized by the rapid occurrence of many sterile, non-follicular pustules, neutrophilic leukocytosis, high fever and spontaneous resolution usually within two weeks. Two-dimensional (2D) carbon allotropes, together with their binary and ternary counterparts, have attracted substantial research interest due to their peculiar geometries and properties. Among them, grapheneplus, a derivative of penta-graphene, has been proposed to exhibit unusual mechanical and electronic behaviour. In this work, we perform a comprehensive first-principles study on its isoelectronic and isostructural analogue, a grapheneplus-like BCN (gp-BCN) monolayer.
