Here, we present a protocol to generate a murine model of liver metastasis by directly injecting tumor cells into the portal vein under ultrasound guidance. We describe steps for animal and cell preparation and two techniques for injecting tumor cells. One technique is freehand, while the other technique is device-assisted using a 3D-printed prototype device. Finally, we describe tumor surveillance with bioluminescent imaging.

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a complex metabolic disease characterized by hyperglycemia. Recently, the incidence of diabetes has increased exponentially, and it is estimated to become the seventh leading cause of global mortality by 2030. Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), a hormone derived from the intestine, has been demonstrated to exert remarkable hypoglycemic effects.

Supervillin (SVIL), the biggest member of the villin/gelsolin superfamily, has recently been reported to promote the metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma by stimulating epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). However, little is known about the roles of SVIL in the migration of colorectal cancer cells. Here, we investigated the effects of SVIL on the migration of cisplatin-resistant colorectal cancer cells.

We investigate the evidence for adverse effects of intraparenchymal and peritumoral application of isosulfan blue dye in sentinel lymph node (SLN) mapping in breast cancer patients. A meta-analysis on the adverse effects of intraparenchymal and peritumoral application of isosulfan application in SLN mapping was conducted using Medline and Embase databases up to 2023. Procedure-based adverse reactions were divided into three grades: Grade I (allergic skin reactions), Grade II (hypotension) and Grade III (requiring vasopressor support).

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) can function as either tumor suppressors or oncogenes. This study explores the role of miR-675 in ovarian cancer (OC) using OC cell lines and an orthotopic mouse model. We demonstrate that miR-675 expression inhibits primary tumor growth and metastasis by targeting TGFβ1, suppressing epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT), and attenuating the TGFβ signaling pathway.

While previous studies have established the role of exosomal miR-552-5p in promoting gastric cancer (GC) progression, the exact mechanisms through which it modulates the PD-1/PD-L1 axis to affect NK cell function and subsequently influence GC epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) remain to be elucidated. Western blot, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and nanoparticle tracking analysis were used to characterize exosomes that were isolated from GC cell supernatants. Subcutaneous AGS cell injections expressing either Lv-miR-552-5p or Lv-NC were administered to nude BALB/C mice.
