The review presents retrospective, present views and future perspectives on the treatment of status epilepticus (SE). First, presynaptic, postsynaptic, and extrasynaptic mechanisms underlying sustaining ongoing seizure activity are highlighted. Next, mechanism-based choices of antiseizure medications capable of promptly arresting SE are introduced. Finally, challenges associated with translating the advances in laboratory research in clinical practice are discussed.

Guidelines in statistical modeling for genomics hold that simpler models have advantages over more complex ones. Potential advantages include cost, interpretability, and improved generalization across datasets or biological contexts. We directly tested the assumption that small gene signatures generalize better by examining the generalization of mutation status prediction models across datasets (from cell lines to human tumors and vice versa) and biological contexts (holding out entire cancer types from pan-cancer data).

Background And Objective: Sexual health research among women living with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) has focused mainly on sexual practices and risk behaviors, with little consideration for treating sexual dysfunction and improving sexual satisfaction. The aim of this pilot study was to assess the effectiveness of an adaptive counseling care model in the management of female sexual dysfunction (FSD) among women living with HIV and without HIV in northern Nigeria.
Methods: This was a prospective cohort study of 200 women with HIV and a matched comparison arm of 200 women without HIV.

Tetanus is a disease of the nervous system caused by a toxin produced by , an anaerobe found in high concentrations in the soil. The occurrence of tetanus is related to contaminated traumatic wounds, and most patients have had some failure in their immunization. However, there are rare case reports of generalized tetanus in patients with proper vaccination schemes who failed to receive appropriate prophylaxis after high-risk exposure.
