We present a case report of an anorectal ulcer cause by an accidentally ingested toothpick, with radiologic an endoscopic images. This is a rare cause of foreign bodies in digestive tract, though it has a high rate of complications.

Ethnopharmacological Importance: Zhili decoction (ZLD) is a traditional Chinese medicine prescription for ulcerative colitis (UC). However, the mechanism by which ZLD exerts its therapeutic effects in the context of UC remains unclear.
Aim Of Study: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of ZLD on the gut microbiota and related fecal metabolite levels using a mouse model of UC.

Ulcerative colitis (UC), one among other refractory diseases worldwide, has shown an increasing trend of progression to colorectal cancer in recent years. In the treatment of UC, traditional Chinese medicine has demonstrated good efficacy, with a high cure rate, fewer adverse effects, great improvement in the quality of patient survival, and reduction in the tendency of cancerous transformation. It shows promise as a complementary and alternative therapy.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's disease (CD), decreases quality of life and causes disability. The underlying processes are not fully understood. This study uses Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis to identify cytokines that may be associated with UC and CD, aiding in early diagnosis and treatment decisions.

Although hyperplasia of the anorectal transitional zone (TZ) has been reported in mouse models of ulcerative colitis, the mechanisms underlying this phenomenon are not fully understood. We characterized keratin subtypes and examined the expression of stem cell markers in the TZ. Dextran sodium sulfate-treated mice showed abnormal repair of the anorectal region, which consisted of mixed hyperplastic TZ and regenerating crypts.

Ulcerative colitis (UC) and psoriasis are highly correlated clinically; however, it is unclear whether they have a common pathophysiological mechanism. The purpose of this study is to investigate the important molecules and pathways that mediate the coexistence of UC and psoriasis through quantitative bioinformatics analysis of public RNA-sequencing databases. The UC (GSE38713) and psoriasis (GSE30999) datasets were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus database.
