Purpose: The Korea Oral Biobank Network (KOBN) was established in 2021 as a branch of the Korea Biobank Network under the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to provide infrastructure for the collection, management, storage, and utilization of human bioresources from the oral cavity and associated clinical data for basic research and clinical studies.
Methods: To address the need for the unification of the biobanking process, the KOBN organized the concept review for all the processes.
Results: The KOBN established standard operating procedures for the collection, processing, and storage of oral samples.
Conclusions: The importance of collecting high-quality bioresources to generate accurate and reproducible research results has always been emphasized. A standardized procedure is a basic prerequisite for implementing comprehensive quality management of biological resources and accurate data production.

Background: Aircraft noise is a growing concern for communities living near airports.
Objectives: This study aimed to explore the impact of aircraft noise on heart structure and function.
Methods: Nighttime aircraft noise levels (L) and weighted 24-hour day-evening-night aircraft noise levels (L) were provided by the UK Civil Aviation Authority for 2011.

Background: Coffee and tea are widely consumed beverages, but their long-term effects on cognitive function and aging remain largely unexplored. Lifestyle interventions, particularly dietary habits, offer promising strategies for enhancing cognitive performance and preventing cognitive decline.
Methods: This study utilized data from the UK Biobank cohort ( = 12,025) to examine the associations between filtered coffee, green tea, and standard tea consumption and neural network functional connectivity across seven resting-state networks.

Despite depression being a leading cause of global disability, neuroimaging studies have struggled to identify replicable neural correlates of depression or explain limited variance. This challenge may, in part, stem from the intertwined state (current symptoms; variable) and trait (general propensity; stable) experiences of depression. Here, we sought to disentangle state from trait experiences of depression by leveraging a longitudinal cohort and stratifying individuals into four groups: those in remission ('trait depression group'), those with large longitudinal severity changes in depression symptomatology ('state depression group'), and their respective matched control groups (total analytic = 1030).

Neuroanatomical sex differences estimated in neuroimaging studies are confounded by total intracranial volume (TIV) as a major biological factor. Employing a matching approach widely used for causal modeling, we disentangled the effect of TIV from sex to study sex-differentiated brain aging trajectories, their relation to functional networks and cytoarchitectonic classes, brain allometry, and cognition. Using data from the UK Biobank, we created subsamples that removed, maintained, or exaggerated the TIV differences in the original sample.

This study presents an advanced methodology for 3D heart reconstruction using a combination of deep learning models and computational techniques, addressing critical challenges in cardiac modeling and segmentation. A multi-dataset approach was employed, including data from the UK Biobank, MICCAI Multi-Modality Whole Heart Segmentation (MM-WHS) challenge, and clinical datasets of congenital heart disease. Preprocessing steps involved segmentation, intensity normalization, and mesh generation, while the reconstruction was performed using a blend of statistical shape modeling (SSM), graph convolutional networks (GCNs), and progressive GANs.
