Regional results of a seroepidemiological study and official notification data are evaluated to describe the situation of tetanus in Italy. Tetanus incidence has been decreasing during the past years. Vaccination has been the principal means of tetanus prevention. Trend analyses for sex- and age-specific rates suggest a change of exposure, presumably linked to the transformation of the Italian society after the World War II, a higher incidence among the elderly as a function of poor coverage and vanishing immunity. Regional data show remarkable variability in prevalence of susceptible population. Reported rates by region are different. Different degrees of regional underreporting in case notification is suggested.

Pertussis, or whooping cough, is a highly contagious respiratory infection caused by the Gram-negative bacterium . Although traditionally associated with children, pertussis is increasingly prevalent among adults, particularly those with comorbidities or weakened immune systems, where it can lead to severe complications. Diagnosing pertussis in adults can be challenging due to its nonspecific symptoms, underreporting, and the limited sensitivity of available diagnostic tests.

To investigate the safety of the tetravalent meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MPCV-ACYW) in combination with the inactivated poliomyelitis (IPV) vaccine and diphtheria-tetanus-acellular pertussis (DTaP) vaccine for infants aged 3-5 months and provide real-world evidence for the immunization strategy of vaccine combination. From June to October 2023, a total of 600 3-month-old infants were selected and divided into three groups: control group, mono-vaccination group and combined vaccination group. They were simultaneously or individually vaccinated with MPCV-ACYW, IPV and DTaP vaccines at 3, 4, and 5 months of age, respectively.

Introduction: The prevalence of anti-pertussis antibodies among infants and children in Iran has not been thoroughly investigated. Given that recommendations for booster vaccines are based on national disease epidemiology, we aimed to evaluate the seroprevalence of pertussis antibodies among infants and children in an Iranian referral hospital.
Materials And Methods: A total of 1012 infants and children were included in the study.
