Exosomes are membranous tiny vesicles secreted by cells, which are widely found in the extracellular matrix and various body fluids and carry a variety of biologically functional molecules such as proteins, lipids, messenger RNA (mRNA) and microRNA (miRNA). Exosomes not only play important biological roles in the field of immunology and oncology, but also have potential application value in the field of forensic medicine. This article reviews the discovery, production and degeneration mechanism, biological functions, isolation and identification methods of exosomes, summarizes the research on exosomes and their significance in the field of forensic science, and discusses their applications in body fluid identification, individual identification, postmortem interval estimation to provide ideas for the application of exosomes in forensic work.

Mutual interaction between doxorubicin (DOX) and cardiomyocytes is crucial for cardiotoxicity progression. Cardiomyocyte injury is an important pathological feature of DOX-induced cardiomyopathy, and its molecular pathogenesis is multifaceted. In addition to the direct toxic effects of DOX on cardiomyocytes, DOX-induced exosomes in the extracellular microenvironment also regulate the pathophysiological states of cardiomyocytes.

The inexorable progression of neurodegenerative diseases (NDs), including Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and multiple sclerosis, is closely related to irreversible brain decline. Accurately characterizing pathophysiological features and identifying reliable biomarkers for early diagnosis and optimized treatment are critical. Hindered by the blood-brain barrier (BBB), obtaining sensitive monitoring indicators for disease progression and achieving efficient drug delivery remain significant challenges.

Nucleic acid detection is important in a wide range of applications, including disease diagnosis, genetic testing, biotechnological research, environmental monitoring, and forensic science. However, the application of nucleic acid detection in various fields is hindered by the lack of sensitive, accurate, and inexpensive methods. This study introduces a simple approach to enhance the sensitivity for the accurate detection of nucleic acids.

Objective: To investigate the expression and clinical significance of circular RNA (circRNA) 051778 in lung adenocarcinoma-malignant pleural effusion (LA-MPE) and tuberculous pleural effusion (TPE).
Methods: This is a cross-sectional study. A total of 212 patients were recruited from the Jiangxi Chest Hospital between October 2018 and September 2019, and their pleural effusion samples and/or plasma samples were collected.

Background: Taste buds' innervation is necessary to sustain their cell turnover, differentiated taste buds and nerve fibers in circumvallate papilla (CVP) disappear following glossopharyngeal nerve transection. Normally, taste buds recover to baseline number in about 70 days. Bone marrow stem cell (BM-MSC) derived exosomes or their combination with Zinc chloride are used to assess their potential to speed up the regeneration process of CVP following bilateral deafferentation.
