A protocol has been developed that not only simplifies the preparation of nanoparticles (NPs) containing ppm levels of ligated palladium that affect heterogeneous catalysis but also ensures that they afford products of cross-couplings reproducibly due to the freshly prepared nature of each reagent. Four different types of couplings are studied: Suzuki-Miyaura, Sonogashira, Mizoroki-Heck, and Negishi reactions, all performed under mild aqueous micellar conditions. The simplified process relies on the initial formation of stable, storable Pd- and ligand-free NPs, to which is then added the appropriate amount of Pd(OAc) and ligand-matched to the desired type of coupling, in water.

Mixed matrix membranes (MMMs) composed of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and polymer matrixes have garnered significant attention due to their potential to overcome the permeability-selectivity trade-off inherent in polymeric membranes. Nevertheless, the application and industrial production of MOF-based MMMs have been hindered by issues such as poor interfacial compatibility and cumbersome fabrication processes. Recently, strategies have emerged as promising approaches for fabricating MOF-based MMMs, offering enhanced interfacial compatibility between MOF fillers and polymers, as well as a simplified construction process.

Domino Knoevenagel-cyclization reactions of styrene substrates, containing an -(-formyl)aryl subunit, were carried out with -substituted 2-cyanoacetamides to prepare tetrahydro-4-pyrano[3,4-]quinolone and hexahydrobenzo[]phenanthridine derivatives by competing IMHDA and IMSDA cyclization, respectively. The diastereoselective IMHDA step with α,β-unsaturated amide, thioamide, ester and ketone subunits as a heterodiene produced condensed chiral tetrahydropyran or thiopyran derivatives, which in the case of Meldrum's acid were reacted further with amine nucleophiles in a multistep domino sequence. In order to simplify the benzene-condensed tricyclic core of the targets and get access to hexahydro-1-pyrano[3,4-]pyridine derivatives, a truncated substrate was reacted with cyclic and acyclic active methylene reagents in diastereoselective Knoevenagel-IMHDA reactions to prepare novel condensed heterocyclic scaffolds.

In our previous study, the whole cells containing an aldo-keto reductase (yhdN) and glucose dehydrogenase (GDH) were constructed and applied in a stereoselective carbonyl reduction reaction to prepare (S)-NEMCA-HEPE, being a key chiral intermediate of (S)-Rivastigmine which is widely prescribed for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. Although the conversion and enantiomeric excess (e.e.

Closed-loop transformation of raw materials into high-value-added products is highly desired for the sustainable development of the society but is seldom achieved. Here, a low-cost, solvent-free and "zero-waste" mechanochemical protocol is reported for the large-scale preparation of cathode materials for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs). This process ensures full utilization of raw materials, effectively reduces water consumption, and simplifies the operating process.
