Defect engineering is an important way to tune the catalytic properties of metal-organic framework (MOF), yet precise control of defects is difficult to achieve. Herein, a cerium-based MOF (CeTCPP) is decorated with Au nanoparticles. Under ultrasound irradiation, Au nanoparticles can precisely turn 1/3 of the pristine Ce nodes into Ce . With the stable existence of Ce , the coordination of Ce nodes changed, causing the structural irregularity in CeTCPP-Au, so that the electron-hole recombination is obviously hindered, facilitating the generation of reactive oxygen species. Therefore, under 20 min of ultrasound irradiation, the CeTCPP-Au showed superior antibacterial efficacy of over 99% against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli with good biocompatibility, which is further used for effective therapy of osteomyelitis. Overall, this work provides a dynamic defect formation strategy of MOF through the electron trapping of Au nanoparticles, which also sheds light on sonodynamic therapy in curing deep-seated lesions.

Schizophrenia (SCHZ), bipolar disorder (BD), and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) share clinical symptoms and risk genes, but the shared and distinct neural dynamic mechanisms remain inadequately understood. Degree is a fundamental and important graph measure in network neuroscience, and we here extended the degree to hierarchical levels based on eigenmodes and compared the resting-state brain networks of three disorders and healthy controls (HC). First, compared to HC, SCHZ and BD patients exhibited substantially overlapped abnormalities in brain networks, wherein BD patients displayed more significant alterations.

Magnetic field-oriented conductive decellularized extracellular matrix hydrogel synergizes with electrical stimulation to promote spinal cord injury repair and electrophysiological function restoration.

Electronic address:

Spinal cord injury (SCI) results in electrophysiological and behavioral dysfunction. Electrical stimulation (ES) is considered to be an effective treatment for mild SCI; however, ES is not applicable to severe SCI due to the disruption of electrical conduction caused by tissue defects. Therefore, the use of conductive materials to fill the defects and restore electrical conduction in the spinal cord is a promising therapeutic strategy.

We describe the utility of 'folic and folinic acid load tests' in the investigation of a 26-year-old woman with persistently low serum folate and moderate hyperhomocysteinaemia unresponsive to folic acid supplements. Serum folate, plasma 5-methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF), red cell 5-MTHF and plasma total homocysteine at baseline, 2-h, 4-h and 2- or 4-days (if applicable) post administration of a large dose of oral folic acid, or oral or parenteral folinic acid were measured. The tests confirmed non-compliance but also suggested an unsuspected possible defect in the folate pathway based on differential response to folic versus folinic acid supplements.

Understanding how TiO2 interacts with CO2 at the molecular level is crucial in the CO2 reduction toward value-added energy sources. Here, we report in-situ observations of the CO2 activation process on the reduced TiO2(110) surface at room temperature using ambient pressure scanning tunneling microscopy. We found that oxygen vacancies (Vo) diffuse dynamically along the bridging oxygen (Obr) rows of the TiO2(110) surface under ambient CO2(g) environments.

A non-metallic PEEK topology optimization reconstruction implant for large mandibular continuity defects, validated using the MANDYBILATOR apparatus.

In cases of large mandibular continuity defects resulting from malignancy resection, the current standard of care involves using patient-specific/custom titanium reconstruction plates along with autogenous grafts (fibula, scapula, or iliac crest segments). However, when grafts are not feasible or desired, only the reconstruction plate is used to bridge the gap. Unfortunately, metal osteosynthesis and reconstruction plates, including titanium, exhibit adverse effects such as stress-shielding and limitations in accurate postoperative irradiation (especially with proton-beam therapy).
