No insulin formulation should be considered best by default for management of feline diabetes. Rather, the choice of insulin formulation should be tailored to the specific clinical situation. In most cats that have some residual beta cell function, administering only a basal insulin might lead to complete normalization of blood glucose concentrations. Basal insulin requirements are constant throughout the day. Therefore, for an insulin formulation to be effective and safe as a basal insulin, its action should be roughly the same every hour of the day. At present, only insulin glargine U300 approaches this definition in cats.

Insulin bound with ligand molecules can improve its bioavailability in oral formulations. In this work, the interactions between insulin and bile acids of taurocholic acid (TCA) and glycocholic acid (GCA) are characterized using different mass spectrometry (MS) methods. Electrospray (ESI)-MS analysis revealed that GCA and TCA could interact with insulin individually or together through non-covalent bonds, and the products included mGCA-insulin, nTCA-insulin, and mGCA-nTCA-insulin complexes.

Aims: The aim of this study was to assess postprandial glycaemic outcomes using automated insulin delivery with faster acting insulin aspart (FIA) or standard insulin aspart (SIA) over 4 weeks in youth (aged 10-18 years) with type 1 diabetes.
Materials And Methods: We undertook a secondary analysis of postprandial glycaemic outcomes from a double-blind, randomised, crossover study comparing FIA to SIA using an investigational version of MiniMed™ 780G. Endpoints included postprandial time in tight range (70-140 mg/dL; TITR), postprandial glucose excursions and peak glucose, and incremental area under curve (iAUC).

Summary: Vitamin D is commonly recommended for daily intake as dietary sources are often insufficient. However, prolonged high-dose use can lead to serious complications. We present a rare case of a 2-month-old infant who developed severe hypercalcemia and hypertriglyceridemia due to an accidental overdose of 25-OH vitamin D, leading to hypertriglyceridemia and pancreatitis.

This study aimed to investigate the physical compatibility of insulin aspart, lidocaine, alprostadil and vancomycin with individualised two-in-one parenteral nutrition (PN).
Methods: The study was conducted at the hospital pharmacy's drug compounding facility of the University Medical Centre Utrecht.
