Heterogeneous electro-Fenton (HEF) process has been regarded as a promising method in environmental remediation. However, the reaction kinetic mechanism of the HEF catalyst for simultaneous production and activation of HO remained confounded. Herein, the copper supported on polydopamine (Cu/C) was synthesized by a facile method and employed as a bifunctional HEFcatalyst, and the catalytic kinetic pathways were deeply investigated by using rotating ring-disk electrode (RRDE) voltammetry based on the Damjanovic model. Experimental results substantiated that a two-electron oxygen reduction reaction (2e ORR) and a sequential Fenton oxidation reaction were proceeded on 1.0-Cu/C, where metallic copper played a crucial role in the fabrication of 2e active sites as well as utmost HO activation to produce highly reactive oxygen species (ROS), resulting in the high HO productivity (52.2%) and the almost complete removal of contaminant ciprofloxacin (CIP) after 90 min. The work not only expanded the idea of reaction mechanism on Cu-based catalyst in HEF process but also provided a promising catalyst for pollutants degradation in wastewater treatment.

Industrial wastewater containing heavy metal ions presents serious economic risk to the environment. In this study, a novel compound of aminated cellulose with jeffamine EDR148 was prepared to improve cellulose's adsorptive behavior towards metal ions. This study undertook a straightforward and efficient cellulose modification through homogeneous chlorination in N,N'-butylmethylimidazolium chloride to produce 6-deoxychlorocellulose (Cell-Cl), followed by a reaction with jeffamine EDR148 and ultimately resulting in the formation of aminated cellulose (Cell-Jef148).

Effects of Hydroxyapatite Additions on Alginate Gelation Kinetics During Cross-Linking.

Polymers (Basel)

January 2025

Department of Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering, School of Chemical Engineering, Aalto University, 02150 Espoo, Finland.

Alginate hydrogels have gathered significant attention in biomedical engineering due to their remarkable biocompatibility, biodegradability, and ability to encapsulate cells and bioactive molecules, but much less has been reported on the kinetics of gelation. Scarce experimental data are available on cross-linked alginates (AL) with bioactive components. The present study addressed a novel method for defining the crosslinking mechanism using rheological measurements for aqueous mixtures of AL and calcium chloride (CaCl) with the presence of hydroxyapatite (HAp) as filler particles.

An innovative modeling approach for the simulative description of the part quality of rubber materials, including the processing history, is presented in this paper. This modeling approach, the so-called average curing speed (ACS) model, is based on the degree of cure and the average curing speed instead of the conventionally considered temperature approach. Such approach neglects the processing history by calculating only the degree of cure.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effects of a 12-week self-designed exercise game intervention on the kinematic and kinetic data of the supporting leg in preschool children during the single-leg jump.

Methods: Thirty 5- to 6-year-old preschool children were randomly divided into an experimental group (EG) and a control group (CG). The BTS SMART DX motion capture analysis system was used to collect single-leg jump data before the intervention.
