Traumatic diaphragmatic injury (TDI) is a rare and dangerous sequela of trauma. Right sided TDI is even more uncommon due to the usual protection of the diaphragm by the liver. TDI can present in a delayed fashion, making diagnosis difficult to obtain. In any case TDI needs to be taken very seriously as it can lead to bowel strangulation and require emergency surgery. Multiple approaches have been described in order to definitively repair diaphragmatic defects. This report describes a patient who developed a delayed onset right sided diaphragmatic hernia after experiencing blunt trauma.

Introduction: A main feature of CDH is lung hypoplasia and the related presentation of pulmonary hypertension and cardiac dysfunction. Multiple factors influence pulmonary status after CDH: degree of hypoplasia, ventilator-induced injury, altered growth and development of pulmonary structures, reduced diaphragm function and chest wall abnormalities. The evolution of pulmonary sequela in this population is still unclear.

This case report describes the difficulty in predicting the outcomes for a fetus affected with both left-sided congenital diaphragmatic hernia and second-trimester pre-viable rupture of membranes. Despite the reserved prognosis at the time of diagnosis, a favourable outcome was obtained. The case highlights the relevance of established prognosticators such as the observed/expected lung/head ratio and also underscores the importance of balanced counselling and providing parents with realistic expectations and appropriate support.

Surgical repair of a right-sided Bochdalek hernia and a left-sided Morgagni hernia was performed with excellent outcomes.

Congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) presents significant challenges in neonatal management, particularly in the context of anesthesia. This case report details the successful anesthetic management of a five-day-old neonate with left-sided CDH requiring thoracoscopic repair. A five-day-old neonate, delivered via emergency cesarean section due to breech presentation, presented with severe respiratory distress and was diagnosed with left-sided CDH.
