Septic pelvic thrombophlebitis is defined as an endovascular thrombus of infectious etiology. It is frequently diagnosed only after excluding other more common pathologies. A high level of suspicion should be maintained in the context of a fever refractory to broad-spectrum antibiotics that improves after initiation of systemic anticoagulation.

The unfolded protein response (UPR) is a complex intracellular signal transduction system that orchestrates the cellular response during Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER) stress conditions to reestablish cellular proteostasis. If, on one side, prolonged ER stress conditions can lead to programmed cell death and autophagy as a cytoprotective mechanism, on the other, unresolved ER stress and improper UPR activation represent a perilous condition able to trigger or exacerbate inflammatory responses. Notably, intestinal and immune cells experience ER stress physiologically due to their high protein secretory rate.

The accumulation of disposable face masks (DFMs) has become a significant threat to the environment due to extensive use during the COVID-19 pandemic. In this research, we investigated the degradation of DFMs after their disposal in landfills. We replicated the potential degradation process of DFMs, including exposure to sunlight before subjecting them to synthetic landfill leachate (LL).

Many Transformer-based pre-trained models for code have been developed and applied to code-related tasks. In this paper, we analyze 519 papers published on this topic during 2017-2023, examine the suitability of model architectures for different tasks, summarize their resource consumption, and look at the generalization ability of models on different datasets. We examine three representative pre-trained models for code: CodeBERT, CodeGPT, and CodeT5, and conduct experiments on the four topmost targeted software engineering tasks from the literature: Bug Fixing, Bug Detection, Code Summarization, and Code Search.

This case report presents a 77-year-old female with dementia and hypertension who experienced reduced consciousness during hydrotherapy. She was found to have hypotension, a low Glasgow Coma Scale score, and right thigh pain. Blood work showed acute kidney injury and elevated inflammatory markers, while imaging revealed surgical emphysema in the right thigh and pelvis without trauma.
