Diabetes remains a critical global health concern that necessitates urgent attention. The contemporary clinical approach to closed-loop care, specifically tailored for insulin-dependent patients, aims to precisely monitor blood glucose levels while mitigating the risks of hyperglycaemia and hypoglycaemia due to erroneous insulin dosing. This study seeks to address this life-threatening issue by assessing and comparing the performance of different controllers to achieve quicker settling and convergence rates with reduced steady-state errors, particularly in scenarios involving meal interruptions.

A nanogap cell involves two working electrodes separated by a nanometer-wide solution to enable unprecedented electrochemical measurements. The powerful nanogap measurements, however, can be seriously interfered with by resistive coupling between the two electrodes to yield erroneous current responses. Herein, we employ the nanogap cell based on double carbon-fiber microelectrodes to suppress resistive coupling for the assessment of intrinsic current responses.

Magnetic actuation holds promise for wirelessly controlling small, magnetic surgical tools and may enable the next generation of ultra minimally invasive surgical robotic systems. Precise torque and force exertion are required for safe surgical operations and accurate state control. Dipole field estimation models perform well far from electromagnets but yield large errors near coils.

Electrostatic actuation of a free-floating test-mass was tested in the Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA) Pathfinder mission, and it will be integrated into the LISA. We have investigated the LISA Pathfinder actuation accuracy with respect to the precision of fractional digits in the field programmable gate array (FPGA) code of actuation electronics. The LISA Pathfinder data showed that the rounding errors in the FPGA code result in an erroneous force that contaminated the main mission observable, and this error was compensated in the post-processing of the LISA Pathfinder data.

Nociceptive threshold (NT) testing is widely used for the study of pain and its alleviation. The end point is a normal behavioural response, which may be affected by restraint or unfamiliar surroundings, leading to erroneous data. Remotely controlled thermal and mechanical NT testing systems were developed to allow free movement during testing and were evaluated in cats, dogs, sheep, horses and camels.
