The formation of a seroma after abdominoplasty is one of the most common complications faced by plastic surgeons. A 59-year-old man underwent lipoabdominoplasty and developed a large subcutaneous seroma that persisted for 7 months. Percutaneous sclerosis with talc was performed. We present the first report of chronic seroma after lipoabdominoplasty successfully treated with talc sclerosis.

Objective: To analyze the characteristics of postoperative wound complications (WCs) in patients following vulvectomy with flap repair and evaluate the efficacy of negative-pressure wound therapy (NPWT) in wound healing.

Methods: This study retrospectively reviewed 17 patients with WCs following vulvectomy with flap repair at a tertiary comprehensive hospital from January 2016 to December 2022. All patients were treated with NPWT, and the wound healing rate, healing time, and NPWT-related complications were observed.

Ventral hernias represent a prevalent surgical complication in contemporary medical practice, with incisional hernias being a common long-term outcome following abdominal surgery. There are many risk factors for abdominal incisional hernias, including surgical history, malnutrition, obesity, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, abdominal closure technique, and surgical site infection. Laparoscopic repair of incisional hernias is the optimal surgical approach, as it is associated with reduced hospital stays, fewer perioperative complications, and lower recurrence rates.

Objective: The objective of this study is to compare the effect of the location of recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein 2 (rhBMP-2) from the native bone and the periosteum for vertical alveolar bone augmentation.

Materials And Methods: Mandibular, chronic, standardized, bilateral, and vertical defects in 12 beagle dogs were evaluated using four modalities: a xenograft alone (XENO; n = 6); rhBMP-2 alone (BMP; n = 6); a technique with rhBMP-2 close to the host bone covered by xenograft (SAN; n = 6); and a technique with rhBMP-2 close to the flap on top of the xenograft (LAS; n = 6). After 8 weeks, a series of in vivo inspections, fluorescence microscopy, histologic and histomorphometric evaluations, and micro-CT analyses.

Objective: To compare the effect of self-gripping mesh and suture mesh in Lichtenstein inguinal hernia repair.

Methods: A computer search of the Cochrane Library, PubMed, Ovid, and Web of Science databases for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) was conducted from January 2010 to October 2021 to compare the efficacy of self-gripping mesh versus suture mesh in Lichtenstein tension-free hernia repair. After screening the literature based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria, the literature was assessed for quality and poor quality literature was excluded and subsequently meta-analyzed using Review Manager 5.

Background: Primary closure of large ventral hernia is difficult and is usually complicated by postoperative mesh bulge, migration, and higher recurrence. Techniques like component separation and bridging mesh, transversus abdominus release, da Silva triple-layer repair, and peritoneal flap hernioplasty (PFH) are common treatment options.

Objective: To evaluate the early postoperative and long-term outcomes of PFH for large ventral hernias.
