Photodynamic therapy (PDT) involves the activation of photosensitizers (PSs) by visible laser light at the target site to catalyze the production of reactive oxygen species, resulting in tumor cell death and blood vessel closure. The efficacy of PDT depends on the PSs, the amount of oxygen, and the intensity of the excitation laser. PSs have been extensively researched, and great efforts have been made to develop an ideal photosensitizer.

Mode-selective converters (MSCs) play an indispensable role in mode division multiplexing (MDM) systems, and the commonly used cascaded waveguide-based MSCs not only have a relatively large size but also increase the insertion loss and mode crosstalk during the conversion process. In this paper, a parallel six-mode-selective converter (6-MSC) is proposed to enhance the integration of the device, which consists of a photonic crystal fiber (PCF) and six step-index fibers (SIFs). Here, a PCF without any holes in the cladding is proposed.

This paper demonstrates a customized quartz tuning fork (QTF) coated with the titanium carbide (TiCT) MXene film that can effectively enhance the sensitivity of light-induced thermoelastic spectroscopy (LITES). The MXene film is coated at the root of the customized QTF. The film area is proven to have little impact on resonance frequency, bandwidth, quality factor, and amplitude of the second harmonic signal (2) based on the fundamental flexural mode.

Perovskites attract significant attention as a coating material in optical fiber sensing, but challenges remain due to the limited discovery of suitable materials and the high trial-and-error costs, resulting in only a few perovskites being used in optical sensing experiments. Addressing this issue, a novel systematic computational screening strategy for perovskites is established. This strategy is demonstrated to accelerate the discovery of perovskite coating materials that can enhance optical sensing sensitivity.
