Combined persistent left superior vena cava entering the left atrium with a congenitally atretic coronary sinus is a rare imaging finding. In the absence of a significant right-to-left shunt, it is generally asymptomatic and can be an incidental discovery. Assessing the anatomy of the cardiac vasculature is crucial before transcutaneous cardiac procedures. We report a case of persistent consciousness disturbance due to non-convulsive status epilepticus (NCSE) following a successful mechanical thrombectomy (MT). A 98-year-old female with atrial fibrillation presented with impaired consciousness and right hemiparesis 6 hrs after her last known well state. Magnetic resonance angiography revealed occlusion of the left internal carotid artery, necessitating MT to achieve complete recanalisation.

Persistent primitive olfactory arteries (PPOAs) are a rare variant of the anterior cerebral artery (ACA). Cerebral aneurysms may arise in the PPOA; most are saccular and on the unilateral PPOA. We report a 66-year-old male with bilateral PPOAs and a fusiform aneurysm on the left side detected at a health check-up.

Traditionally, patients with rheumatic diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA), were considered off-limits for joint-sparing surgery. In the present study, we report bilateral knee joints of psoriatic arthritis coexisting with osteoarthritis, with good, albeit short-term, results. 62-year-old woman was treated for psoriatic arthritis with a biologic (adalimumab).

The Cox-Maze IV (CMIV) procedure is the mainstay in surgical treatment of atrial fibrillation (AF), but the rate of AF recurrence after the CMIV procedure in patients with persistent AF is difficult to accurately evaluate. In this study, we aimed to develop and validate a risk prediction model of AF recurrence within 1 year after undergoing the Cox-Maze IV procedure. We retrospectively enrolled 303 consecutive patients who underwent the Cox-Maze IV procedure for persistent AF concomitant with other cardiac procedures at our institute between 2019 and 2021.

Cervical fracture dislocation often leads to neurological deficits, manifesting with sensory and motor symptoms, which may persist even after surgical intervention. We presented two cases with mild neurological deficits following such injuries. In Case 1, the patient presented with left-hand numbness 1 month after a car accident.
