The bed nucleus of the stria terminalis (BNST) is involved in feeding, reward, aversion, and anxiety-like behavior. We identify BNST neurons defined by the expression of vesicular glutamate transporter 3, VGluT3. VGluT3 neurons were localized to anteromedial BNST, were molecularly distinct from accumbal VGluT3 neurons, and co-express vesicular GABA transporter (VGaT).

However, patient preferences for replacing EMBs with noninvasive assays in the context of potential institutional policy changes are unknown. A mixed-methods design was used with 28 semi-structured patient interviews and 123 self-administered online survey questionnaires in English and Spanish between January to June 2023.

Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is a microbial dysbiosis that shifts the paradigms of vaginal flora from lactobacilli to opportunistic pathogens. Globally, BV is treated with antibiotic therapy and recurrence rates are > 70% occurring within 6 months due to antibiotic resistance against pathogenic bacteria. An incorporation of orally or intravaginally for the recolonization of healthy microbes in vagina is the suggested course of treatment.

In addition, dysfunction of the glutamate transporter 1 (GLT-1) in the nucleus accumbens (NAc) has also been proposed as a mechanism underlying drug addiction. However, the cellular and synaptic impact of GLT-1 alterations in the NAc remain unclear.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a life-long autoimmune disease caused by the confluence of genetic and environmental variables that lead to loss of self-tolerance and persistent joint inflammation. RA occurs at the highest incidence in individuals >65 years old, implicating the aging process in disease susceptibility. Transformative approaches in molecular immunology and in functional genomics have paved the way for pathway paradigms underlying the replacement of immune homeostasis with auto-destructive immunity in affected patients, including the process of immune aging.
