Recently, the ISTH Hemophilia Guidelines were published in this journal. The authors of these guidelines should be commended for a Herculean task that took years to complete, and while this is no doubt a welcome addition to the literature, it does leave many questions for the clinician. Primarily this is due to as 11 of the 13 recommendations being conditional essentially meaning "that clinicians and patients need to consider individual preferences as well as the specific circumstances in which the decision is being made for implementation of the recommendation.

In a long-forgotten essay, Alvin Gouldner defended the distinctive contributions of Romantic social science. Today, half a century later, very few would risk making a similar plea. Owing to its deconstruction, the discourse of Romanticism has increasingly fallen out of favor in the social sciences, meaning social scientists have progressively come to see Romanticism as less a for critique than a bourgeois warranting critical scrutiny.

Reassessing the Photochemical Upcycling of Polystyrene Using Acridinium Salts.

Polystyrene (PS) is a commodity plastic recalcitrant to chemical recycling or upcycling processes. Approaches aimed at deconstructing PS by photocatalytic means struggle to generate high-energy species capable of cleaving the robust C-H and C-C bonds of PS. We show that 9-mesityl-10-methylacridinium perchlorate (MA) is capable of upcycling various grades of PS substrates into up to 40 % benzoic acid (BAc), formic acid (FA) and small proportions of acetophenone (ACP), under visible light (456 nm) or through solar radiation.

Aims: Utilising the life course perspective as the theoretical framework, we investigate how women from different generations perceive their cooking experiences and articulate their feelings regarding this activity.

Method: Following a review of the literature and four exploratory focus groups, an interview guide was developed and piloted. Interviews were conducted with 22 Brazilian women spanning three distinct generations.

Resource quality is an important concept in ecology and evolution that attempts to capture the fitness benefits a resource affords to an organism. Yet "quality" is a multivariate concept, potentially affected by many variables pertaining to the resource, its surroundings, and the resource chooser. Researchers often use a small number of proxy variables to simplify their estimation of resource quality, but without vetting their proxies against a wider set of potential quality estimators this approach risks overlooking potentially important characteristics that can explain patterns of resource use in their study systems.
