Dimethylsulphide is a dominant biogenic sulphur anti-greenhouse gas produced by marine phytoplankton. A non-axenic culture of Skeletonema costatum was studied to comprehend the effects of different growth stages and light stress on DMSP/DMS production. The intracellular DMSP concentration increased during late exponential to mid-stationary phase and attained a maximum (0.59 pg S cell) during the stationary phase, indicating more contribution from actively dividing smaller cells. Likewise, exposure to first light after a 12-hour dark phase caused stress, invariably leading to elevated levels of DMS (~9 fold). These observations were upheld by additional laboratory and field experiments, and a field time-series observation, which recorded higher DMS concentrations during exposure to first light after a dark cycle and during early mornings, respectively. While our study depicts the variable DMSP and DMS concentrations during different growth stages of S. costatum, it gives new information on the effect of light stress on DMS production.

Quercetin (QE), a particular flavonoid, is well known for its medicinal effects, including anti-oxidant, hypoglycemic, and anti-inflammatory effects. In this review, the findings of QE effects on diabetes STZinduced, alloxan-induced, and its complications have been summarized with a particular focus on in vitro, in vivo, and clinical trials. Consequently, QE mediates several mechanisms, including ameliorating tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells (NF-κB), interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-8, and IL-10 expression, increasing insulin glucose uptake to inhibit insulin resistance.

Background: Psychologists play a crucial role in providing essential psychological aid to individuals navigating the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, studies focusing on the mental health of psychologists during the COVID-19 pandemic remain scarce. This study investigates the interaction between coping strategies and psychological distress among a group of Indonesian psychologists.

Heat-stress-induced oxidative and inflammatory responses were important factors contributing to chicken intestinal damage. The purpose of this study was based on the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities of Physalis Calyx seu Fructus (Jin Deng Long, JDL) to investigate its efficacy and mechanism in relieving chicken heat stress damage. Primary chicken embryo duodenum cells and 90 30-day-old specific-pathogen-free chicken were randomly divided into control and JDL groups to establish heat stress models and .

A one-step hydrothermal method was applied to prepare carbon dots (CDs) with superior fluorescence properties using chitosan as a carbon source. The as-prepared carbon dots were then grafted onto a sodium alginate-gelatin hydrogel film to form a fluorescent hydrogel film (FHGF), emitting at 450 nm under excitation of 350 nm light. In comparison to the CDs, the fluorescence intensity of this film was maintained over 90.
