Introduction: Robotic-assisted surgery (RAS) is a vital modality in the armamentarium of minimally invasive surgeons. The HugoTM RAS system (Medtronic) is one of the newest platforms on the market and has little surgical outcomes data. We describe our early experience performing robotic-assisted partial nephrectomy (RAPNx) with the Hugo RAS platform.

: A comprehensive comparison of intraoperative, oncological, and functional outcomes of RARP performed with different robotic surgical platforms is critically needed. Our aim is to compare the oncological and functional outcomes of RARP performed using the novel Hugo™ RAS system with those from the daVinci system, the reference standard, at a high-volume robotic center, with an extended follow-up period (one year). : We analyzed the data of 400 patients undergoing RARP ± pelvic lymph node dissection between 2021 and 2023, using propensity score (PS) matching to correct for treatment selection bias.

The Hugo robotic assisted surgery system is a relatively new robotic platform developed by Medtronic. The study objective was to describe the experience of using Hugo robotic assisted surgery in gynecological surgeries and compare robotic assisted surgery-related outcomes between complex and non-complex gynecological patients at the Pacifica Salud Hospital. We performed secondary data retrospective analysis of 144 consecutive patients who underwent gynecological surgery with Hugo robotic assisted surgery system (Medtronic) at the Pacifica Salud hospital in Panama City from July 19, 2021, to August 3, 2023.

The versatile open modular design of the newly introduced robotic platform Hugo RAS is expected to allow its rapid spread in general surgery. However, the system is not yet approved for use in oesophageal and HPB-surgery and is not licensed worldwide. The aim of this work was to review the current spectrum of general surgical procedures that may be feasibly and safely performed with Hugo.
