Early detection of renal deficient function is imperative for the success of treatments and determining prognosis. In horses, a renal ultrasound can be performed through the abdominal wall (TA) or transrectally (TR), being an important tool for the evaluation of the kidneys. Besides renal morphology, resistivity (RI) and pulsatility indexes (PI) may be early tools to detect renal injury as they reflect arterial compliance.

Respiratory compliance reflects the ability of the lungs and chest wall to expand in response to increases in pressure. In this review, relevant studies were selected through a comprehensive literature search with the aim of summarizing and generalizing them to describe the relevant factors that may be present in veterinary clinical practice and affect respiratory compliance in dogs. Individual factors, including breeds, disease background, drugs administered, and especially surgical procedures, can result in alterations to respiratory compliance due to their impact on the respiratory system in dogs.

Despite advancements in prevention and treatment, peptic ulcer disease (PUD) remains a public health burden, with potentially high mortality rates when not managed properly. Recent studies indicate bleeding as the most prevalent complication, followed by perforation or penetration into adjacent organs and pyloric obstruction. In rare cases, posterior wall or greater curvature ulcers of the stomach can penetrate, leading to splenic artery pseudoaneurysms.
