is a well-recognized bacterium that plays a predominant role in the progression of dental caries. Its pathogenicity is linked to several key characteristics, including the ability to produce organic acids (acidogenicity), thrive in low pH environments (aciduricity), synthesize exopolysaccharides (EPS) glucosyltransferases, and form retentive biofilms. The treatment of dental caries with conventional antibiotics is often ineffective due to the bacterium's capacity to form recalcitrant biofilms.

We synthesized and characterized a novel, task-specific ionic liquid for metal extraction with considerably reduced leaching behavior compared to similar, phosphonium-based ionic liquids. The synthesis involves the design of the novel compound [TOPP][PAM] featuring both a highly hydrophobic cation and a functional anion. The characterization of the novel ionic liquid confirmed the formation of the desired structure and sufficient purity.

The development of peptide drug is hindered by the risk of amyloidogenic aggregation; if peptides tend to aggregate in this manner, they may be unsuitable for drug design. Computational methods aimed at predicting amyloidogenic sequences often face challenges in extracting high-quality features, and their predictive performance can be enchanced. To surmount these challenges, iAmyP was introduced as a specialized computational tool designed for predicting amyloidogenic hexapeptides.

The impact of orthopedic scaffolds on bone defect healing, particularly the late-stage bone remodeling process, is pivotal for the therapeutic outcome. This study applies fadditively manufactured scaffolds composed of hydroxyapatite-doped poly(lactide-co-glycolide)-b-poly(ethylene glycol)-b-poly(lactide-co-glycolide) (HA-PELGA) with varying properties to treat rat calvarial defects, elucidating their significant role in bone remodeling by modulating physiological responses. We engineered two scaffolds with different polylactic acid (PLA) to polyglycolic acid (PGA) ratio (9/1 and 18/1) to vary in hydrophobicity, degradation rate, mechanical properties, and structural stability.
