Objective: Electroacupuncture has been shown to play a neuroprotective role following ischemic stroke, but the underlying mechanism remains poorly understood. Ferroptosis has been shown to play a key role in the injury process. In the present study, we wanted to explore whether electroacupuncture could inhibit ferroptosis by promoting nuclear factor erythroid-2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) nuclear translocation.

Introduction: Preclinical studies have shown that oxygen therapy can improve ischaemic brain tissue oxygen tension, reduce reperfusion injury after revascularisation, promote neuroregeneration and inhibit inflammatory responses potentially exerting a beneficial effect after endovascular treatment (EVT) in patients with acute ischaemic stroke (AIS). However, the optimal fraction of inspired oxygen (FiO) during EVT under general anaesthesia is currently unknown. Therefore, we are conducting a randomised controlled trial (RCT) to evaluate the impact of high-concentration oxygen vs low-concentration normobaric oxygen on early neurological function after EVT.

In this study, we developed calcium alginate-coated nanovesicles derived from macrophage membranes loaded with berberine (Ber@MVs-CA) for the oral treatment of ulcerative colitis (UC). Ber@MVs-CA demonstrates resistance to gastric acid and controlled drug release in the colonic pH environment, while actively targeting sites of ulcerative colitis injury. pH-responsive release of Ber in Ber@MVs-CA was confirmed through in vitro release experiments.

Pyridoxal-5-phosphate (PLP) enhances the synthesis of endogenous hydrogen sulfide, a potent regulator of cell metabolism. We used 24-month-old rats to investigate the PLP mitoprotective function in the aging heart. We demonstrated improvement of mitochondrial bioenergetic functions, inhibition of mPTP opening after PLP administration.

Phosphine (PH) fumigation is widely used to control insect pests in stored products globally. However, intensive PH use has led to the emergence of significant resistance in target insects. To address this issue, this study investigated PH resistance mechanisms by conducting both qualitative and quantitative proteomic analyses on the whole proteome of a PH-resistant Tribolium castaneum strain (AUS-07) using LC-MS/MS.
