Objective: To introduce the cancer nurse to qualitative research.
Data Sources: A search of published literature including articles and books was conducted to inform the article using University libraries (University of Galway and University of Glasgow) and CINAHL, Medline, and Google Scholar databases using broad terms, including qualitative research, qualitative methods, paradigm, qualitative, and cancer nursing.
Conclusion: It is important for cancer nurses wishing to read, critically appraise, or undertake qualitative research to understand the origins and different methods employed in qualitative research.
Implications For Nursing Practice: The article is of relevance for cancer nurses globally who wish to read, critique, or undertake qualitative research.
