Agro seeds are vulnerable to environmental stressors, adversely affecting seed vigor, crop growth, and crop productivity. Different agrochemical-based seed treatments enhance seed germination, but they can also cause damage to the environment; therefore, sustainable technologies such as nano-based agrochemicals are urgently needed. Nanoagrochemicals can reduce the dose-dependent toxicity of seed treatment, thereby improving seed viability and ensuring the controlled release of nanoagrochemical active ingredients However, the applications of nanoagrochemicals to plants in the field raise concerns about nanomaterial safety, exposure levels, and toxicological implications to the environment and human health. In the present comprehensive review, the development, scope, challenges, and risk assessments of nanoagrochemicals on seed treatment are discussed. Moreover, the implementation obstacles for nanoagrochemicals use in seed treatments, their commercialization potential, and the need for policy regulations to assess possible risks are also discussed. Based on our knowledge, this is the first time that we have presented legendary literature to readers in order to help them gain a deeper understanding of upcoming nanotechnologies that may enable the development of future generation seed treatment agrochemical formulations, their scope, and potential risks associated with seed treatment.

Sugarcane is a major industrial crop highly susceptible to parasitic weed (Striga spp.), causing a 38% reduction in cane yield due to a longer lag phase of 20-40 days, and wider spacing. Herbicides with a longer retention and slow-release nature could allow Striga seeds to germinate and be killed before attaching to the host.

The present study examined optimal dietary patterns of eight plant-based foods for preventing chronic diseases, including hypertension, stroke, myocardial infarction, and diabetes, using data from the China Health and Nutrition Survey (CHNS). We applied generalized estimating equations to assess time-based changes and gender differences, using residual balancing weights to control time-varying confounders, and employed a restricted cubic spline model to explore dose-response relationships by gender. The findings suggested that a high intake of vegetables and whole grains, along with moderate amounts of fruits, fungi and algae, could help reduce the risk of developing these four chronic diseases simultaneously.

The increasing contamination of cereals by micromycetes and mycotoxins during malting still poses an unresolved food safety problem. This study characterises the potential of the novel, rapidly developing food production technology of Pulsed Electric Field (PEF) to reduce the viability of fungi and the production of mycotoxins during malting. Barley, artificially inoculated with four species, was treated by PEF with two different intensities and then malted using a standard Pilsner-type technology.
