Unlabelled: Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of irreversible blindness in the world. Although numerous factors have been implicated in the pathogenesis of glaucoma, the main focus of management still remains lowering the intraocular pressure (IOP) by medical or surgical therapy. However, a major challenge is that many glaucoma patients continue to progress despite good control of IOP. In this regard, the importance of other coexisting factors that may contribute to disease progression needs to be explored. Ophthalmologists need to be aware of ocular risk factors and the impact of systemic diseases and their medications, along with lifestyle modifications on the course of glaucomatous optic neuropathy and adopt a holistic approach in treating the eye as well as the patient to alleviate the suffering from glaucoma in a comprehensive manner.

Patients And Methods: This retrospective study involved 39 eyes (16 treatment-naive and 23 recalcitrant) treated with intravitreal faricimab at four centers in India. Patients received three monthly loading doses followed by a pro-re-nata regimen, with outcomes measured for best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), central macular thickness (CMT), intraretinal fluid (IRF), subretinal fluid (SRF), and hyperreflective foci (HRF).

Endoscopic cyclophotocoagulation (ECP) offers a viable alternative for managing advanced primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) in patients at risk of ocular hypotony. We describe a case of a successful outcome with ECP in a patient who developed ocular hypotony secondary to Preserflo surgery. A 93-year-old South Asian male experienced significant visual field deterioration and ocular hypotony following Preserflo surgery on the left eye, complicated by a severe cough from COVID-19.

Upon interaction with bacteria or bacteria-derived antigens, neutrophils initiate a multi-staged response of which the terminal stage is NETosis, formation of protease-decorated nuclear DNA into extracellular traps. NETosis has a great propensity to elicit ocular damage and has been associated with diabetic retinopathy and diabetic macular oedema (DME) progression.
