Objective: The aim of this cross-sectional study was to analyse the association between dental and skeletal maturation in children born between 2005 and 2010.

Materials And Methods: Dental and skeletal maturation of 117 ethnic Scandinavian children born between 2005 and 2010 (70 girls, 47 boys, mean age 11.48 years) was analysed. Dental maturation (DM) was assessed on orthopantomographs (OPs) by using Demirjian's and Haavikko's methods while skeletal maturation was assessed on hand-wrist radiographs by use of Helm's method. The correlation between skeletal and DM was analysed using Spearman's rho (s). Additionally, the most frequent DM stage in relation to the skeletal maturation stage was analysed by logistic regression adjusted for age and sex.

Results: The correlation between dental and skeletal maturation was significant for all teeth (s = 0.071-0.562;  < .000- = .035) except for the first incisor and the first molar. Logistic regression analysis showed that when the mandibular and maxillary canines are ¾ mineralized, this is significantly associated with the beginning of the adolescent period before peak height velocity (PHV) (PP2=  < .005-< .05). Likewise, when the mandibular second premolars are ¾ mineralized, this is significantly associated with the maturation stage PP2= or S (PP2=  < .05, S:  < .005-< .05), both of which are before PHV at the beginning of the adolescent period.

Limitations: Limited sample size and the X-rays were taken before orthodontic treatment, which may have introduced a selection bias.

Conclusions: When the root of the canines or second premolars is ¾ mineralized, it may indicate the beginning of the adolescent period with increased skeletal growth intensity.

Fractures are common and serious skeletal injuries, and accelerating their healing while alleviating patient suffering remains a clinical challenge. Annexin A2 (ANXA2) is a widely distributed, calcium-dependent, phospholipid-binding protein involved in bone remodeling. However, its role in chondrocyte differentiation and endochondral ossification remains unclear.

Background: It seems that some substances of plant origin may exert health-promoting activities in diabetes and its complications, including those concerning bones. Chrysin (5,7-dihydroxyflavone), present in honey, some plants, and food of plant origin, has been reported to exert, among others, antioxidative, anti-inflammatory and antidiabetic effects. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of chrysin on the skeletal system of rats with experimental type 1 diabetes (T1D).

Background/objectives: Early postmortem mitochondrial function and apoptotic activation affect meat quality development. Nicotinamide riboside (NR) supplementation to pigs prior to harvest can improve pork color stability, but its mechanism remains unclear. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of NR supplementation on early postmortem mitochondrial functionality and apoptosis.

Spermatogenesis is an advanced biological process, relying on intricate interactions between somatic and germ cells in testes. Investigating various cell types is challenging because of cellular heterogeneity. Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) offers a method to analyze cellular heterogeneity.

While several studies have reported short-term clinical outcomes after medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) repair with suture tape augmentation, there is still a dearth of knowledge regarding midterm clinical outcomes. This study aimed to evaluate the midterm clinical outcomes of MPFL repair with suture tape augmentation in patients with patellar dislocation. We retrospectively reviewed the clinical records of patients who underwent MPFL repair with suture tape augmentation for at least one episode of patellar dislocation between 2015 and 2020.
