Application of Biochar-Immobilized for Enhancing Phosphorus Uptake and Growth in Rice.

Plants (Basel)

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Subtropical Silviculture, Zhejiang A&F University, Hangzhou 311300, China.

Phosphorus (P) is an essential nutrient for rice growth, and the presence of phosphate-solubilizing bacteria (PSB) is an effective means to increase soil P content. However, the direct application of PSB may have minimal significance due to their low survival in soil. Biochar serves as a carrier that enhances microbial survival, and its porous structure and surface characteristics ensure the adsorption of .

This review examines the recent advancements and unique properties of polymer-inorganic hybrid materials formed through coordination bonding (Class II hybrids), which enable enhanced functionality and stability across various applications. Here, we categorize these materials based on properties gained through complexation, focusing on electrical conductivity, thermal stability, photophysical characteristics, catalytic activity, and nanoscale self-assembly. Two major synthetic approaches to making these hybrids include homogeneous and heterogeneous methods, each with distinct tradeoffs: Homogeneous synthesis is straightforward but requires favorable mixing between inorganic and polymer species, which are predominantly water-soluble complexes.

An experimental investigation is conducted to identify the optimal blend of fluoroethylene carbonate (FEC), 3,3,3-trifluoropropylene carbonate (TFEC), and various fluorinated ethers, including 1,1,2,2-tetrafluoroethyl-2,2,2-trifluoroethyl ether (HFE), 1,1,2,2-tetrafluoroethyl-2,2,3,3-tetrafluoropropyl ether (TTE), and bis(2,2,2-trifluoroethyl) ether (BTE), to enhance the performances of lithium-ion cells at high voltage. The cell incorporating TTE exhibits a significantly superior capacity for retention after long-term cycling at 4.5 V, which might be attributed to the improved kinetics of lithium ions and the generation of a thin, reliable, and inorganic-rich electrode-electrolyte interface.

High-voltage transmission lines face significant challenges due to environmental exposure, including corona discharge, ice accretion, and corrosion, which impact their durability and operational efficiency. This study investigates the performance of hydrophilic and superhydrophilic organosilane coatings applied to high-voltage wires to address these issues. Using a combination of experimental setups simulating real-world conditions, we evaluated corona discharge losses, ice adhesion, and corrosion resistance on coated and uncoated wires.

strain PJH16, isolated and tested by our team, suppresses cucumber wilt as an efficient biocontrol agent. For further investigation, the strain has been combined with two other ( VJH504 and JNF2) to enhance biocontrol ability, which formed high-efficiency microbial agents in the current study. The methodological target taken is based on achieving the optimal growth conditions of the combined microbial agents; hence, the medium composition and culture conditions were optimized through a single-factor test, orthogonal test and response surface methodology.
